Greetings!
If you're like many of us, tax day finds you pretty tired of looking at numbers. But for a refreshing new look at what numbers can tell you - and your grandchild - consider If the World Were a Village by David J. Smith. This fascinating children's book supposes that the world's population has become a village of 100 people - and then tells how that would look. 61 are from Asia 14 are from Africa 11 are from Europe 8 are from South & Central America, Mexico & the Caribbean 5 are from Canada & the United States 1 is from Oceania, including Australia & New Zealand You will find similar information on languages, possessions, and education in this little gem, which is available at www.kidscanpress.com. Like all of you, this author believes that helping children become "world-minded" is vital to the well-being of our planet. Personally I know I can benefit from some world-minded-ness myself! Thank you for joining in the world-minded quest. Diana McDonough President, Global Grandmothers PS. If you know of other globe-enlightening resources, we hope you will share them with us. We need such suggestions for the GG website's upcoming Kids' Page, or as additions to our existing Resources Page. |
