Board discusses Chromebook device for incoming freshmen
After a successful year with the Lenovo Thinkpad Chromebook Yoga 11e, the administration is recommending the same device for incoming freshman, class of 2019, as part of its ongoing one-to-one learning initiative.
"The 'Yoga' offers students a hybrid device that is part laptop and part touch screen tablet," said District Director of Instructional Technology Ryan Bretag. "Its outstanding durability, flexibility and performance was proven by last year's freshman class."
Since the Glenbrooks were early adopters last year, the device is considered "new" and the cost remains consistent. The 'Yoga' will be provided to incoming freshman at an annual cost of $110.
"Our goal was to select a device that is conducive to learning, is cost effective for our families and not a burden to taxpayers," said Superintendent Dr. Mike Riggle. "The Yoga meets those criteria while providing students an excellent device to support the one-to-one learning environment."
