Meeting Highlights - March 10, 2014
One-to-one learning continues at the Glenbrooks
The Board of Education reviewed a proposal to continue the one-to-one digital learning initiative for the 2014-15 school year. This would require incoming freshman to purchase a district-designated device. Given the improved durability of new devices, the Board is considering shifting from a two-year lease, to a four-year lease. The Board is expected to vote on the pricing structure later this spring, once a specific device has been identified.
"We have seen great success with this initiative with our current freshman, sophomores, and juniors and would like to see it continue for our incoming class of 2018," said Superintendent Dr. Mike Riggle.
District 225 reviews summer construction project bids
The Board of Education reviewed recommendations from the administration for the awarding of bids for various construction projects slated for the summer of 2014. The bid results were first discussed at the Board Facilities Committee Meeting on March 5.
The summer construction project list, if approved, includes the following enhancements at Glenbrook South: additional parking lots, renovation for Project Lead the Way classrooms, and enrollment-related conversions including peer group rooms and select labs to classrooms.
The Board is expected to vote on these bids at its scheduled meeting on Monday, April 28.
