Board freezes student transportation fee
The Glenbrook High School District 225 Board of Education voted January 28 to again freeze student transportation fees and continue with the 50 percent sibling rider discount.
In light of ongoing economic conditions and a negotiated three-year contract with First Student, the Board has not increased the student transportation fee over the past five years.
Cost of student transportation is:
$675 if registered between April 1-June 3
$800 if registered after June 3
The official registration period runs from April 1-June 3. After June 3, seats will be offered on a space available basis and based on existing stops and routes. A 50 percent discount wil be available for sibling riders, and a $25 discount for those who register online.
The Board will review all other student fees during the February 25 meeting.
Board reviews District, GBS improvement plans
No Child Left Behind (NCLB) improvement plans for the District and Glenbrook South were submitted for review by the board.
This is required by federal and state regulations for districts that do not make adequate yearly progress in one or more subgroups for two consecutive years as specified by NCLB.
Because the District accepts Title I funds, Federal Improvement sanctions apply. The District is required to participate in an improvement planning process called Rising Star. Through this program, the District must submit an improvement plan to the State. This fulfills both Federal and State requirements.
