May 12th was Fibromyalgia Awareness Day. The NFA is sending out a big thank you to all those who helped celebrate 20 years of change with our
Feast, Friendship & Fibro
dinner campaign. Locally we celebrated with dinner and drinks and raised money for the NFA. If you registered your Feast, Friendship & Fibro dinner, be sure to get your donations in, so you can receive your commemorative apron, which is available to all those who raised over $500. Hurry, as supplies are limited. Thank you again for your support!

NFA Unites in Pain Cooperative
American Pain Society President, Greg Terman, MD PhD discussed the National Pain Strategy with NFA Founder/Community Pain Center President, Lynne Matallana at the American Pain Society Conference May 2015

In response to the National Pain Strategy (NPS), the NFA has united with other patients advocacy groups and professional medical associations and educators to promote a "cultural transformation in pain care," which was called for in 2011 by the Institute of Medicine. This cooperative will support the entire pain community and benefit all people with fibromyalgia by promoting research and contributing to health care provider education. Public comment was closed on May 20th, and now the NPS committee will revise this crucial document that will transform the way chronic pain is perceived and treated. Watch for more news in the near future once the final plan is released.

The NFA extends heart felt appreciation to Southern California Edison, who chose the NFA to receive five computers through their community investment program. These are much needed resources as we are a nonprofit organization operating on donations. The computers are vital to us staying up-to-date with changing technology.
