Health Sciences Council awards team research space in Discovery Mall
The Health Sciences Council is delighted to welcome three research teams to the Discovery Mall in the Edmonton Clinic Health Academy. This space was awarded through a competitive process; the successful applicants are:
- Bariatric Care and Rehabilitation Group (BCRRG)
- Canadian North Helicobacter pylori Working Group (CANHelp)
- Edmonton Cardio-Oncology Research Group (ENCORE)
"We are very pleased to welcome these teams to the ECHA community," said Health Sciences Council Chair and Dean of Nursing, Anita Molzahn. "Providing space for collaboration is one of ways the Council facilitates interdisciplinary learning, discovery and citizenship across disciplines."

TEDMED Live 2015
TEDMED Live is an annual event that brings together inspiring speakers, influential delegates, innovative start-ups and a passionate global audience. Over three days, all eight TEDMED Live sessions will be live-streamed into the Edmonton Clinic Health Academy in real time from the stage in Palm Springs. Each session features four to six short talks (roughly 15 minutes) on the session theme.
The Health Science Council is proud to be a TEDMED affiliate; in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Academic Technologies and the Department of Pediatrics, and the Faculty of Agricultural Life & Environmental Sciences we invite you to join us for these informative, provocative and inspiring talks about health and wellness and the health care system.
All sessions are free and open to everyone! Please check detailed information; sessions will be held in various spaces in the Edmonton Clinic Health Academy.

Conflict, Hope, Peace and Public Health | Public Lecture
Izzeldin Abuelaish, MD, MPH, is finding ways to protect the health and well-being of individuals around the world. Dr. Abuelaish is an internationally recognized author, human rights and peace activist, and founder of Daughters for Life, a foundation which provides education and leadership training to girls and women in the Middle East, regardless of religion or citizenship. The School of Public Health, at the University of Alberta is hosting this public talk on the connections between conflict, hope, peace and public health on Wednesday, October 28 at 8:45 a.m. at Lister Centre.
Wednesday, October 28, 8:45 - 10 am Maple Leaf Room, Lister Centre (11613 - 87 Avenue, Edmonton) Izzeldin Abuelaish is a professor with the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto.

Save-The-Date! Putting Evidence into Practice (PEP) Workshop
November 23-25, 2015 Edmonton, Alberta
Learn about knowledge synthesis and its application to healthcare practice!
This three-day workshop involves a combination of plenaries, small group sessions led by experts in their topic area, and a fun, interactive session reinforcing key concepts learned during the workshop. Participants from all disciplines and all learning levels will benefit from this workshop.
PEP will feature intensive training streams on systematic reviews (basic or advanced), rapid reviews, or knowledge translation.
