TEDMED Live 2015
November 18, 19, 20

TEDMED  is an annual event that brings together inspiring speakers, influential delegates, innovative start-ups and a passionate global audience. This year, the Health Science Council and the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry are proud to be TEDMED affiliates; we will livestream the event from Palm Springs California, direct to the University of Alberta. Mark your calendars and watch for more information. This event will be free and open to everyone!

Consider This: Interdisciplinary Work

For years now, we've been talking about the importance of interdisciplinary approaches to education and research as well as collaborative practice. Breaking down the barriers that inhibit innovation has become a crucial goal for scientists, educators, researchers, governments and the private sector. Why is it important? What can we gain if we are successful? What might we lose if we are not? Last week, the international weekly journal of science, Naturededicated a special issue to interdisciplinarity: what it is, how it works, and why we should embrace it. The Health Sciences Council at the University of Alberta has been exploring this important topic for some years now. We invite you to consider the ideas explored in Nature. Take the (light-hearted) quiz to see how interdisciplinary you really are. And think about how we can find new ways to bring truly interdisciplinary thinking to the University of Alberta.

Reminder: Missing: mice, keyboards, cables

Supplies for all shared spaces in ECHA are paid for through the joint funding model. This includes all equipment used in boardrooms throughout the administrative levels. From time to time, items are accidentally removed, usually when people are taking their own laptops or other equipment back after a meeting. Please check your work space for extra equipment that might have found its way out of the boardroom.
If you find any of these items:
  • wireless mouse;
  • wireless keyboard;
  • wireless receivers;
  • HDMI cable;
  • data cable;
please return them to the ECHA Administration Office (3-394), no questions asked. Replacing these things is expensive; let's do our best to make sure our boardrooms have the equipment they need.
