Why is the water so cold?
The washrooms in ECHA are designed for fairly heavy traffic. You may have noticed that when there are more people using the sinks, the water is more likely to be warm. Just like at home - the water sitting in the lines is cool until you've run it for a while.
Plumbers have adjusted the thermostatic valves underneath the sinks that control the temperature; any additional increases may result in scalding. We are looking at ways to supply a more constant temperature to the sinks but at this time have yet to find a cost effective solution.
In the meantime, please let the water run until it is warm - about one minute in most cases. The more people who do this, the more consistent the warm water flow will remain throughout the day.
And remember, proper handwashing takes about 30 seconds.
