Geese Update

Canada Goose nesting on ECHA's green roof
In case you missed our last email, a pair of Canada Geese has built a nest and laid eggs on ECHA's green roof.
The south patio will remain closed until further notice. This is for the safety of our occupants, as adult geese are protective of their families and can be very aggressive. Alberta Fish and Wildlife has recommended that the goose nest be left undisturbed until the young have hatched and subsequently leave the area.

However, the north patio has been reopened so do take advantage of the warmer weather and enjoy the sunshine there.

If you are curious and want to have a look, please go to the 5th floor, near 5-486 (south end). You will have a good view from the unoccupied space in that area. Please do not enter staff cubicles to access windows. Thanks for your co-operation!

New Ion Water Systems

Van Houtte Ion Water Filtration Systems have been installed in the nutrition nooks of both Atriums to keep up with larger demand in those particular areas. Key features includes the following:
  • Filters and chills fresh water instantly
  • Dispenses 7 oz of water every 30 seconds
  • Also dispenses hot filtered water suitable for tea/hot-chocolate/instant soup
  • Reduces energy consumption
  • Replaces 8,000 - 16 oz plastic bottles with a single filter

For more information on the systems, please refer to the Info Sheet.

We are continuing to explore other options to provide either vending, or self-service facilities through an ECHA-wide solution. If you have any ideas, please feel free to let us know: echaadmin@ualberta.ca

Information for our Bikers
