Once a year, TEDMED hosts a multi-disciplinary conversation event relating to the future of health and medicine at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC and broadcasts it live to affiliated auditoriums and institutions around the world.
As part of its centennial celebrations, the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry hosted the high-definition simulcast of TEDMED Live 2013 on April 16-19. Sessions also featured presentations from FoMD faculty highlighting topics that demonstrate advancing health through teaching, research and patient care. If you missed it, you can see the talks here.
More presentations, including Dean Miller's talk,
Health Policy's Overdue Handshake with Hippocrates, will be available on FoMD's YouTube channel in the near future.

Coffee and tea discontinued in ECHA
Coffee/tea service has been discontinued in ECHA as part of ongoing cost-saving measures. Van Houtte Brewing machines will be removed over the next few weeks. We are looking into a number of options to provide either vending, or self-service facilities through an ECHA-wide solution. If you have any ideas, please feel free to let us know: echa.info@ualberta.ca

ClinicalKey replaces MD Consult and First Consult
Point of care tools, MD Consult and First Consult, will be replaced with a new product called ClinicalKey at the end of April, 2013. Clinical Key integrates much of Elsevier's medical and surgical content into one online resource, giving users access to large numbers of books, journals (including the Clinics series), videos and images. All of the topic-summaries from the FirstConsult point of care tool are included, as are references to articles indexed in Medline, and clinical practice guidelines.
Find ClinicalKey in the UofA Libraries collections by clicking the "Databases" tab on the top of the library homepage and searching for ClinicalKey. A User guide to ClinicalKey is available here.
