Flu information

Are you protected from the flu?

Flu season has arrived. Protect yourself - get your flu shot at the University Health Centre 2 -200 Students' Union Building. Getting immunized every year is the most effective way to fend off influenza.

Even with the flu shot, always:

  • Practice good hand hygiene; wash hands frequently with warm soap and water.
  • Cough or sneeze into your arm or into a tissue - not into your hands. Throw used tissue into garbage, and wash hands with warm soap and water immediately.
  • Stay home when you are sick!

For more information on the flu visit www.uwell.ualberta.ca

Nutrition Tip

Using Herbs and Spices to Cut Salt

You can enhance the taste and flavour of foods without adding extra salt by using herbs and spices when preparing foods. Use basil in pasta and other Mediterranean-inspired dishes. Pop a bay leaf into stews or soups where you want a deep, pungent flavour.  Go for dill or lemon grass when a delicate taste is called for.Try small amounts of sage, which has an intense flavour, with pork, poultry or beef or sprinkle cinnamon, instead of sugar, on oatmeal or other cereals.
