Greetings!
"Attitude Is Everything" - My father taught me that, and the chances are that someone in your life has been telling you that for as many years as you can remember. I remember sitting through long lectures as a child, listening to people tell me that I was in charge of my future, that I was the one who would determine my success and failures, and that I would decide how far and high I went in life. Now I also remember rolling my eyes and wishing that they would hurry up so I could back to whatever it was that I was doing.
Even though I may not have fully appreciated those lectures at the time, I have found them invaluable in my adult life.
PSM - Positive/Successful/Mindset
At 39 years young - I now know that almost every challenge in my life had a predetermined outcome based on the mindset that I went in with. I can not give you a single instance when I have not come out victorious when I went in with the "Will To Win".
Whether competing in National & International Tournaments or working for a promotion in my professional career, the mindset that I went in with usually matched the outcome.
Our mind can be strengthened like any muscle in our body and requires the same exercise and fine tuning that we would use in any other aspect of life.
"I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. Twenty-six times I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed."
~ Michael Jordan
If you didn't know who he was you might look at those stats and think " Wow - that guy can't perform under pressure". Well we all know better than that. Do you think that he is thinking about his failures when he gets on the court? No - When he steps on the court he is thinking about his 1072 games played - his 179 Playoff Games & his 32292 points scored. He knows that he is the best and that the game is his to win or lose.
Michael Joradn, Carl Lewis, Bret Favre, the name changes but the will to win does not. What we think is indeed our reality.
The martial arts help us in creating a "Positive Successful Mindset" by allowing us to achieve a top level mental and physical condition for ourselves. Each class that we attend pushes us farther that we have been previously and continues to show us that the limits we have in life are only self imposed. If you are already on the mat with us, then I am sure that you have already experienced this in one form or another. If you haven't made it on the mat yet, give it a go. You may just be surprised at what the next level of achievement holds for you.
