Greetings!
We are all familiar with the adage of "Fail to Plan and you Plan to Fail". While I agree with this whole heartedly, it "Fails" to mention one very important thing.
When you are finished planning, you have to ACT on your plan.
All too often I speak with students, family members, business acquaintances, etc., that are looking to get in shape. They ask me all sorts of questions, read books and make out very detailed plans of attack to reach their goals, and then sit and do nothing about it. Instead of getting out and attacking the problem, they put all of their energy into the planning, and by the time they have finished this portion of the process, they are no longer motivated to get out and get moving on phase two of the process. As long as we are being honest, the main reason most of these individuals spent so long in the planning stage was to feel good about themselves while still avoiding getting off their butts and doing something about it.
Each of us have been guilty of this at one time or another. Whether it was a good idea that we have had in our professional careers that we never acted on because the task was a bit to daunting, or something more personal, like trying to lose weight. The main difference that you will see in the top 3%of earners in the United States is their ability to act on their thoughts in a quick and precise manner. Those individuals who are willing to take a small idea, desire or challenge and meet in head on - Right Now- are the ones who will reap the rewards of their labor.
What goals do you have for yourself? Have you had an idea or desire floating around in the back of your brain for a while? Now is the time to act on it. Regardless of the economy, the season, or personal hurdles, make a decision right now to take just one goal or idea and act on it today. The minister at my church is fond of saying "We All Suffer From The Human Condition". We are all a bit lazy inside, we are flawed. Be that as it may, we are all capable of greatness.
Another great man once said that, "All Men Are Created Equal". This is true, but that doesn't mean they all did something with it!
Stop sitting around "Thinking" of who you want to be or what you want to accomplish.
Start "Acting" like the person you want to be and start working toward what you want to accomplish.
Respectfully,
Sa Bum Nym Jason
