Greetings!
Practice makes Perfect, Right?
No - Only Perfect Practice Can Make Perfect, and since I have yet to see anything that could claim to be 100% perfect, then I guess what I am really striving for is to get as close to perfection as possible. This can only come from "Quality" work in my field of practice.
Now, although I am working with what I hope is always good quality, if I only practice on a rare occasion, then the odds are against me ever achieving great results. So In addition to having High "Quality", I need to make sure that the appropriate "Quantity" is present. I need to practice in the area of concern often.
Regardless of how often or how well I practice, if my mind is not in the right place, then I will not be able to take from the experience what lessons are available. My "Spirit" needs to be in the right place. Why am I practicing? What goals am I working toward? How can I be better today than I was yesterday? The proper answers to these questions will ensure that the "Spirit" of my work is honest.
Now comes the real trick to all of this. I have to combine all of the attributes into a single entity...ME!
Although The principles of Q.Q.S. work great on the mat or in the Do Jang, they work equally as well in many other areas of life. Imagine the progress we could achieve if we were to carry this idea into our work, marriage, friendships, and even our parenting.
Every day carries a lesson, and as long as I am giving my best (Quality), stay actively engaged toward my goals (Quantity), and my motivations are pure (Spirit), I can't lose!
Respectfully,
Sa Bum Nym Jason Franklin
