Greetings!
I had the opportunity last year to read a book titled," The Last Lecture". This book is a first hand account of a man in his 40's who had recently found that he only had 6 months to live due to an aggressive form of cancer. I won't spoil the book for you if you have not yet read it, but the book goes on to show how he spent the last months of his life laying out a solid platform for his family and the years that they would have without him. In addition to this, rather than sitting back and cursing his misfortune, he took the opportunity to chronicle the wonderful life that he had lead. He did this for two reasons. The first was so that he could spend his last days appreciating the many gifts that he had received in his time here. The second was so that he could leave a guide for his children on how they should lead their lives.
WOW! What an incredibly strong man he must have been. While staring death in the face, this man chose to continue living for as long as he could.
Attitude IS Everything!
Can I find the lesson in a losing situation? Can I see the benefit of not getting what I wanted? Can I hear the opposing opinion in an argument?
Each day I get up and spend several long moments saying thank you for my family, my business and my challenges ( both previous and future). I do this to center myself and to bring to focus what really matters.
What happens today is not what matters.
How I perceive what happens today means everything!
Respectfully,
Sa Bum Nym Jason Franklin
