Tips from the Opposition!
Hear from attorneys representing creditors, landlords and insurance companies on how plaintiffs have won against them in District Court. Mark your calendars for 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 9th and plan to attend "Tips from the Opposition!" at the Jefferson County Courthouse, Courtroom 560 (Judge John Amari's courtroom.)

Also Barbara Luckett from Legal Services of Alabama will answer questions about how to represent low-income clients.

Volunteer to help veterans in Shelby County
Help veterans with legal issues from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 30th at the Veterans Resource Expo at the University of Montevallo Student Activity Center. Attorneys are needed to work from 10 a.m. to noon and from noon to 1 p.m. E-mail Attorney John Aaron for more information.

Volunteer at the Trans Name Change Clinic
Volunteer attorneys are needed at Birmingham AIDS Outreach for the first Trans Name Change Clinic on Tuesday, March 15th, 1:00pm - 6:00pm. E-mail Amanda Keller if you are interested. Also, stay tuned for a free CLE to learn how to complete a Name Change in Probate Court. 
A few more attorneys are needed at Project Homeless Connect
February 27th is Project Homeless Connect and attorneys will be needed to help Birmingham's homeless citizens overcome debilitating legal issues. Please sign up for any of these time slots: 9:30 - 11:30; 11:30-1:30; or 1:30 - 3:30.

Consider taking a case and making a difference

Please help client defend a child support arrearage contempt case
Client began receiving disability in 2003 due to renal failure. The minor child has been receiving client's disability payments. Client did not realize that he had to file a modification to stop the current child support order. The mother filed a contempt charge against the client for more than $68,000.00 plus interest. Please contact Heather Bussey to help this client.

Please help elderly grandmother create a will 
Client would like a volunteer attorney to create a will. Client has never had a will before but would like to get her affairs in order. Please contact Katrina Brown to help this client.

Bankruptcy Cases
The BBVLP has two clients that are in need of a Chapter 7. Both client's have turned in the credit reports. Both clients are organized and motivated to complete this process. Please contact Katrina Brown to help either of these two clients.
