Be among the first to try out the new Children's Education Boardwalk |
Take a hike, play Animal Olympics, and learn more about Refuge creatures and the "fingerprints" they leave on Refuge trails at "Ding" Darling during National Trails Day, Saturday, June 1, 2013, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.Indigo Trail and the Bailey Tract will be open all day free to hikers and bikers, who will be able to also experience the new Children's Education Boardwalk trail. Another New Summer Tour |
May 21-Aug 15, 2013 while Wildlife Drive is closed, Tarpon Bay Explores will lead its new Causeway Estuary Exploration by tram.
Tuesdays and Thursdays 9 a.m.-reservations required at 239-472-8900
- Learn about the Refuge and the history of the island on the tram ride to the causeway.
- Then join your naturalist to explore the estuary with seine and dip nets in serach of live shells, sea stars, crabs, fish, and more.
- 90 minutes including roundtrip transport from Refuge Education Center.
- Bathing suit, water shoes, camera, sun protection, and towel recommended.
- $13 Adults/ $8 Children (Not recommended for children under 6 years old.)

Still Kicking the Bottle |
As the summer weather heats up, here's a friendly reminder that we kicked the bottle at "Ding" Darling NWR this past September for National Public Lands Day. You can still purchase a collapsible water bottle for only $1.25 (plus tax) to fill up at our FREE filtered water stations at the Education Center and Tarpon Bay Explorers. Or just bring you r own and fill up your own bottle.
