"Ding' Days" Photo Contest
July 15 marks the opening of the 25th Annual "Ding" Darling Days Amateur Nature Photography Contest.
The contest, sponsored by the "Ding" Darling Wildlife Society (DDWS) is held in conjunction with "Ding" Darling Days, Oct. 14-20, 2012, which honors the birthday of Jay Norwood "Ding" Darling, one of the foremost conservationists in American history and the driving force behind the eponymous J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge.

Doc Ford's leads "Ding" Days sponsorship
Doc Ford's Sanibel Rum Bar & Grille for the fifth consecutive year has donated $5,000 to "Ding" Darling Wildlife Society-Friends of the Refuge (DDWS) for its 2012 "Ding" Darling Days birding and eco-festival, which will draw nearly 8,000 visitors to J. N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge the week of Oct. 14-20.

 Opening to benefit 'Ding'
By purchasing a $10 ticket to the opening of the new Fort Myers West Marine flagship store on July 19, 2012, you can support "Ding" Darling Wildlife Society (DDWS) and the Refuge.
 | | Kids love the Blue Goose, who will make an appearance at West Marine's "Cruising for a Cause." | One hundred percent of ticket proceeds goes to DDWS to help conservatio efforts within the Refuge.
For every "Ding" ticket used at the "Cruising for a Cause" event on July 19, West Marine will donate an additional $2 to DDWS. |

Refuge Summer Help
Six Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) students and one YCC group leader reported for work this month at "Ding" Darling Refuge. They will stay on until school starts again in August.

In addition, Brynn Lipira from Fort Myers, a junior at Stetson University in DeLand, Florida, studying aquatic and marine biology, fills the position of visitor services intern to assist Ranger Jeff Combs this summer with Education Center duties, volunteer management, and other responsibilities.
