Dear Friends,
|
Rev. Katie Robb Davis, Associate Pastor
for Mission and Congregational Care
|
The fiscal year at Wellshire just ended, and your mission team wants to extend a huge THANK YOU for the ways your contributions enable our ministry to the hurting in Denver and around the world. The 2015-2016 operating budget included an increase in funds for mission, which meant that Wellshire was able to make more impactful contributions in the community by taking on some special projects with our mission partners. These efforts have also resulted in broader participation by Wellshire members.
|

Some highlights of our giving:
- Sponsorship of the "Giggle Room," furnishing and toys at the new Haven transition house for mothers recovering from addiction (see below for a chance to volunteer your time painting on July 9).
- For Schmitt Elementary School, Wellshire provided incentive prizes for students to participate in testing and back-to-school gift cards for teachers to purchase extra school supplies. We have eight volunteers who help in classrooms at Schmitt and a strong relationship that is very encouraging to a struggling school hoping for a turnaround.
- We purchased a new freezer for the shelter at Urban Peak, strengthening that organization's understanding of our continued commitment to homeless youth. Did you know that Wellshire serves dinner there on first Thursdays? Contact me if you'd like to help!
- We contributed $5,000 to Highlands Presbyterian Camp for their debt reduction matching gift fund.
- We increased funding for our global mission co-workers and contributed to new mission co-workers in the Philippines working to address issues of human trafficking.
Read on for more details, and to find a few upcoming volunteer opportunities.
Out of abundance, we share. What a blessing. THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!

Paint the Giggle Room at The Haven
Wellshire is sponsoring the renovation of the playroom in the new transitional house at The Haven, located at Fort Logan. This home will provide continuing structure to the mothers who have completed the recovery program. The "Giggle Room" and an adjoining space are ready to be painted prior to their opening in August, where they will be furnished with toys that YOU donated last December. Plan to come help out on Saturday, July 9 from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm at the latest; lunch is provided. Contact Rev. Katie Robb Davis with questions by email or at ext. 217.
