|

Yellow Nutsedge is a warm season perennial weed. It has upright, grass-like leaves and is a light yellow-green in color. It emerges from late-May to mid-July and grows very rapidly in July and August. One of the best things you can do to control this weed is maintain turf density and health by fertilizing and watering regularly. You can physically remove the plants soon after germination to help control them. However, this must be done when the plant is very young. After it matures, tubers develop on the roots. When you pull the plant, you may think you're getting it all but often the tubers are left behind and the weed sprouts again from these tuber.s Because of this, the best way to treat Yellow Nutsedge is by using chemicals specifically developed to kill it.

Because Yellow Nutsedge grows especially well in moist sites you can also increase drainage in moist or wet areas. There are chemical products that can be used to treat Yellow Nutsedge but it can be difficult to control and may require multiple applications. These chemical products are not available for residential use. If you think you have a problem with Yellow Nutsegde, we have the products to get it under control.
