Faith for Thought is a bi-weekly offering of the
Michigan Conference United Church of Christ
March 27, 2015

In this week's Faith for Thought, Campbell Lovett realizes he's not in parish ministry anymore! For him, this has the benefit of being able to reflect more on scripture. Listen to what he does with this verse from 2 Timothy.

Staffing Transition

Nicole Havelka, Area Minister for Southwest Michigan, announced that she is leaving her position in the Michigan Conference UCC for a new position in the Ohio Conference UCC.

Nicole will continue her work as Area Minister through June 12, 2015. Conference Minister Campbell Lovett and she are working on a transition plan to ensure that the needs of churches, Church and Ministry Committees, Association leaders and Search Committees are met during the transition. She will be in touch with association leaders and church search committees in the next week to find ways to serve their needs through June and to help the conference serve those needs into the future.

Nicole's new position will use her strengths as a"connector" - connecting people with people, need with resources, and hope with opportunity using both in-person and online methods. Connections will be both between people and churches in Ohio as well as forging connections across conference boundaries. She hopes that this new position will leverage the connections she has made with the people and ministries of the Michigan Conference for the good of the whole wider church.

"My heart is heavy at leaving the wonderful colleagues I have gained while working in Michigan,"she said. "While at the same time I am excited about the creative opportunities that the new full time position offers me."
