2014 Annual Meeting: It's Time to REGISTER!
The time is here - you can now register for the 2014 Annual Meeting of the
MIchigan Conference UCC!
Remember, to take advantage of the Church Multi-person Discount; eligible churches will have 5 or more people attending Annual Meeting from the same church and receive a $5.00 per person discount on up to 10 people. In Sadness we Share the News....
It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Oletha Haller, wife of the Rev. Herman Haller (former MI Conf UCC Staff Member and Covenant Association pastor), who transitioned to heaven on Saturday, July 26th, 2014. The "Celebration of the Life, Witness and Service of Oletha Haller" will be held Saturday, August 2nd at 11:00 a.m. at Pilgrim Congregational Church, UCC - 125 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Lansing. There will also be a visitation at Tiffany Funeral Home - 3232 W. Saginaw St., Lansing, the evening before on Friday, August 1st from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Contributions can be made to Pilgrim Congregational Church, UCC; St. Stephen's Community Church, UCC, Lansing; or Wider Church Ministries/Global Ministries.
It is with sadness that we share the news of the passing of Z. William "Bill" Colson, Jr. at the age of 89 (Retired pastor, Covenant Association). He passed away, Thursday, July 10, 2014 at his home under the care of New Life Hospice. His wife B.D., son Mark and his caretaker Diane were present. Bill made his career as a Minister in the Congregational Church - United Church of Christ. During the course of his ministry he served churches in Quincy, MA; Laconia, NH; Chicago, IL; and finally served the longest in Charlotte, MI from 1967 - 1988. He served many churches in an interim capacity for several years after leaving Charlotte. Obituary A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Congregational Church - 106 S. Bostwick St. S., Charlotte, MI 48813. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made in memory of Bill to the First Congregational Church in Charlotte. Planning the Fall Financial Enlistment Campaign
What: An online worship for local church stewardship committees
We will review,
- A letter-writing appeal
- Witnessing Stewards in worship
- Narrative Budget
- UCC Stewardship materials
- The Stewardship Sermon
- Our Church's Wider Mission
When: Wednesday, August 6 from 7:00 - 8:15 p.m.
Where: At your church or on your laptop!
How: Gather your church's Stewardship Committee at the church and join in via WebEx (instructions will be provided). This can be projected onto a screen if your church has a video projector. Or you can access the workshop via your home computer.
Who: Conference Minister, Campbell Lovett and special guests will present the material during the first hour. After Q & A, committees will meet themselves to plan the details of their fall campaign. Planning materials will be provided to those that pre-register.
Register: Please send an email to Lisa Soulliere at the Conference Office (lisa@michucc.org) if you or your church would like to participate. Full WebEx video conferencing set up instructions and planning materials will be sent by the end of July.
This workshop will make a positive impact upon your stewardship drive!
