Changing lives for our children
December 2015 Newsletter

Big thanks to GE for donating holiday gifts to CASA kids
Every year, the men and women of GE Intelligent Platforms buy holiday presents for Piedmont CASA kids. Their generosity fills our lobby with gaily-wrapped boxes in every size, shape, and color. Then CASA Volunteers deliver the gifts to over 100 boys and girls throughout our community. It's a fabulous 13-year tradition that always brightens the season for everyone it touches.

And to CASA kids who give it forward
GE's generosity inspires generosity. Like the time an 8-year old girl called to change the item on her wish list from a doll to a microwave - because the one at home had broken and they couldn't afford to replace it. Or the time a teenage boy spent his entire gift card on steaks so he could cook everyone in his group home a special holiday meal. Or when a 16-year-old gave her gift card to mom, so she could afford to buy presents for her siblings.

CASA boys and girls are our inspiration
and we try to measure up to them every day
Our goal is to provide these kids with the gift of freedom from abuse and neglect. The gift of mental and physical health through appropriate medical care. And the gift of safe, permanent homes - because every child deserves a childhood.

Books by and about CASA Volunteers

Everyday heroes, as seen
through the eyes of teens in foster care
"The book was written by children who shared some of their experiences being in the court system and foster care through no fault of their own. It is by the efforts of these dedicated people (CASA Volunteers), they were given an advocate, a friend and hope."
I Speak For This Child:
True Stories of a Child Advocate

"Best-selling novelist Gay Courter recounts her experiences as a volunteer court-appointed special advocate for children involved in Florida's court system. We get an insider's glimpse on this hidden world and learn what it takes to ensure that America's most vulnerable citizens are treated with care and respect. Courter's story is both heartbreaking and heartwarming, and is an inspiration for anyone who has ever looked up from a newspaper and wondered, 'What can I do to help?'"
