Volunteers Needed for Open House
On Monday March 17 from 5:30 to 8 pm, HSMSE will host an open house for newly admitted students. Remember your visit with your child? Along with a warm welcome from Ms. Bonds and the staff, new families will be welcomed by the PTA. We'll be selling food food and beverages along with logo apparel. This is an excellent opportunity to continue our ongoing fundraising efforts.
The PTA needs volunteers and nut-free baked goods for the bake sale. If you can volunteer to work the event, please contact Chris Whitford. If you are able to make a few sandwiches, schlep some water bottles, drop off some chips, or bake some cookies, please contact Sloane Harris or Irina Proudnikov. We can help arrange for drop off if you are able to send food ahead with your child or help assist with alternate arrangements. Our fall open house was a tremendous success. Please help us to welcome the families of our newly admitted students into the HSMSE community.

HSMSE Students Will Travel to Japan
The TOMODACHI Japan Society Junior Fellows Student Exchange Program instills future leaders with a lifelong interest in and understanding of Japan and the United States through international exchanges of small groups of talented high school students. The fellowship provides a unique opportunity for students to travel to Japan for three weeks to immerse themselves in Japanese culture and history, and to collaborate with their Japanese counterparts. This highly selective, nationwide program accepts only ten students each year, and out of hundreds of applicants, HSMSE is fortunate to have two students--juniors Paul Lee and Sofie Cornelis--who were accepted into this prestigious program.Yael Saiger and Emily Chen were also chosen as alternates. Paul and Sofie will be traveling to Japan in July to meet with leading professionals in the arts, business and entertainment fields; live with Japanese families; participate in local high school activities and explore historic sites to acquire a deeper understanding of Japan.
