Presentation Sunday Miracle Story at Cedar Park Church!
The last Sunday in January is Presentation Sunday at Cedar Park Church. That Sunday is set aside every year to pray for infertile couples. These couples come from all around the Puget Sound area, and beyond. While we are about embryo adoption, the Lord sends us miracle babies, too. Here is one such story as told by Elena and Craig, the blessed parents of this precious daughter.                                                                            Craig and Elena's daughter

Elena and Craig Nishizaki Testimony

We started "trying to get pregnant" in October 2010. In November we found out that we were pregnant, but three days later we miscarried. We continued to try to get pregnant after the miscarriage, and after six months we decided to visit Seattle Reproductive Medicine (SRM) for a consultation. We were devastated to learn that we had a slim chance of conceiving naturally, and with medical intervention we had a 5-15% chance of success. Over the next six months we did 3 IUI's that failed.

We prayed about it and felt called to pursue adoption instead of spending any more money on fertility drugs. We found out about Embryo Adoption Services of Cedar Park from a woman at our church. She shared what embryo adoption was and told us that there was a Japanese embryo up for adoption. She said this was a very rare thing.

We got in contact with Maria the director to learn more about embryo adoption and we saw the movie "The Gift of Life", at Cedar Park Church. She invited us to attend Cedar Park Church's Presentation Sunday on January 28, 2012. We were prayed over by the prayer ministry team that day, and had a very powerful experience. God placed on our hearts that we would have a child, but it wasn't clear how or when.

After prayer and talking to Maria we decided that embryo adoption was the way to go for us and began the process.  We were ecstatic when the donor family chose us. We worked as quickly as we could to get everything done.  The paperwork was finalized at the end of March, 2012. The embryo shipped to Seattle Reproductive Medicine (SRM) on April 9th, 2012.

On that same day, Elena decided to do a pregnancy test, because she had not gotten her period and she needed to take one more medical test before we could set the transfer date.  The pregnancy test was positive and we both were in shock. The next day Elena went to the doctor to do another pregnancy test, they confirmed that we were pregnant. We still could not believe it. We went back to SRM to tell them that we were pregnant, they asked when we did the transfer, we told them we had not done it yet.

Our doctor, at our 6 week appointment when we confirmed a heartbeat told us that he had never seen this happen. It truly was a miracle. By the grace of God, we were pregnant with no medical intervention.

On December 14th, Kale'a Grace was born. Kale'a means Joy in Hawaiian and her middle name is Grace. We named her Grace after  Ephesians 2: 8-10 8 "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do".

It is by God's grace that we have a beautiful baby girl. We wrote to the donor family and told them that we are still committed to the embryo that we adopted. We always dreamed of having two children, but with the challenges that we had in getting pregnant, we weren't sure if we could. Our adopted embryo has a big sister now. God willing, we plan on doing the transfer early in 2014.

We joked when we were pregnant that we had one in the oven and one chillin'. We feel so blessed. It's amazing to look back one year and see how different life is today.

Thank you Maria for your prayers and all the hard work that you do to help God create families.  ~Craig & Elena

It's not exactly easy to land a two-page spread in People Magazine, but it happened to a couple in Kent.  Not because they're celebrities, but because they wanted the best possible life for their baby.

Rachel and Diony Victorin tried for years to get pregnant.  They even tried in vitro fertilization.  When four rounds of treatment were unsuccessful, the couple nearly gave up their dream of being parents.

That's when they heard about embryo adoption."It was like, wow, that's amazing, you know?" Diony recalls.

After a few months of research and applications, they were given five frozen embryos, left over from another couple's in vitro fertilization. Two of those embryos were implanted in Rachel.  A few months later, she was pregnant.

When little Esther Victorin was born, she was everything they hoped for.  Still, her adoptive parents wanted more for their daughter. "I really wanted her biological parents to be involved," said Rachel.  " I really wanted Esther to be able to know that side of her and who she was and where she had come from."

Where she came from was actually a couple living in Tacoma, Larry and Jodi Dilworth. They donated their leftover embryos after conceiving their daughter, Bobbie, in 2007.

"It was January in 2012, and I contacted the agency and said we feel like it could be great if Jodi and Larry could know Esther," said Rachel.

The Dilworths were open to the idea, and the two families decided to give an open embryo adoption a shot.

"And so we met for the first time at McDonald's, and let the girls meet," said Rachel. Esther and Bobbie became fast friends, and soon, the two families became one.
"I mean, it's hard to explain to a lot of people," said Diony.  "A lot of people don't understand it."

Their story is so unique it recently caught the attention of People Magazine.  Their extended family was featured in the December 2012 issue, as one of the first families in the country to experiment with an open embryo adoption. "It's just really been awesome to see how it's affected people and inspired people and made people aware of that option," said Rachel.

Esther usually visits with her biological parents and sister at least once a week. As embryo adoption becomes more and more popular, it's believed more families will follow their lead. There are currently about 600,000 frozen embryos stored in labs around the country.

About 3,500 babies have been born since the embryo adoption process began more than a decade ago.
