A Message from Pastor Matt

Grace and Peace to you in the light of the risen Christ!

Pastor Matt

By the time you see this, I hope that the warm spring sun has melted away the winter's chill and turned this great moisture into green leafy beauty. I'm not whining about a long winter.   We live in Minnesota. I might be whining about a too-short summer.

I have learned in Minnesota not to initiate lots of new ministry when the weather turns warm, because we are all in love with summer here. So we are keeping our ministry lean, but engaging enough to make it worth our while. Enjoy!

So, weekend worship this Summer includes a very casual Saturday evening 5:30 p.m. service.   Simple, fun and a celebration of the presence of God.   These will not be long services, but with enough meat to keep stirring your spiritual life.   Sunday at 9:30 a.m. will be a blend of the best of Crown of Glory alongside an interactive Children's dismissal time that your young ones are going to love.

Please remember that whether you make it or not to worship, we are a year-round congregation and are here week in and week out making Crown of Glory an engaging and growing place even in the summer.

Our new Crown of Glory Building Expansion committee is working through the summer to figure out the kind of space that makes sense for the future of our ministry.   Watch for their updates on this process and for times to share your thoughts.   We want a church home here that works for all of us and that looks ahead to the congregation that we are already becoming.

Shalom,

Pastor Matt

A Message from Pastor Reggie

Pastor Reggie

"I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds. I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing the praises of your name, O Most High!"

Psalm 9:1-2

Give Thanks

There is much to rejoice and much to give thanks to God for in this time of year! We have come once again through a wonderful year of growth and learning for our children's and youth education programs here at Crown of Glory! But this year we also give thanks to God for one who has been called to serve in new capacities in God's church! Our Children's Education Director, Luci Sesvold, has been accepted to attend Wartburg Seminary next fall and she will be entering into the Masters of Divinity program to pursue a calling in ordained ministry! Although saddened by the news of her expected departure, at the same time we are thrilled for her next step in God's calling her to the ministry of Word and Sacrament!

We have much to give thanks for in Luci's service to our congregation! On the weekend of Saturday May 4 and Sunday May 5 our congregation will offer our thanks and appreciation to Luci for her almost four years of dedication and service to our children's education ministry. There will be an appreciation moment in worship as well as a reception following each worship service. We invite everyone to come and join in fellowship and share our appreciation for Luci!

In addition to our gratitude and appreciation, we are inviting congregation members to consider a special financial gift in honor of Luci. All financial gifts collected from Crown of Glory members will go directly to support Luci's seminary education and expenses. There will be specially marked envelopes available for anyone who would like to make a gift to support this cause. We are aware that everyone may not be in attendance on this appreciation weekend; therefore, we invite you to make your gift to Luci's Seminary Education Fund in a specially marked envelope to the church office by June 15, 2013. Please join us on this special weekend in offering a word of thanks for the gifts we have received through Luci's ministry here at Crown of Glory!

In Christ,

Pastor Reggie Klindworth

Luci Sesvold Appreciation Day!

On Saturday May 4 and Sunday May 5, join us as we offer our appreciation to our Children's Education Director Luci Sesvold!  She has faithfully served at Crown of Glory for almost four years and will be attending Wartburg Seminary to pursue a call in ordained ministry next fall!  During each worship service there will be an appreciation moment as well as a reception following worship in Luci's honor.  Please join us as we say thank you to Luci!

Community Garden Manager Needed

For the last several years,  Paula Meyers has been the overseer of the Crown of Glory community garden. If you would like more information or would like to volunteer for the job, please contact Carri in the church office.

HELP NEEDED

Vacation Bible School is scheduled and registration forms are trickling in. However, we need several things (volunteers, food, craft supplies) to make the week run smoothly. Please take a look at the items below. You can sign-up by emailing Luci or the sign-up on the church bulletin board.

Have the VBS team over for dinner one night

Provide lunch for the VBS team (Crock Pot meals or bag lunches work well)

Outreach Ministry Team: "Caring Hands"

"The LORD your God has blessed you in all the work of your hands." Deuteronomy 2:7a. The "Caring Hands Team" is a new Outreach Ministry Team seeking participants.  This team responds to the special needs of families within our congregation by: Providing meals to families in time of special needs (i.e., at the birth of a child or during a family emergency such as an illness or death).

Team members may occasionally be asked to prepare a meal, send a caring card, provide a ride to a doctor appointment or assist in other special ways for families. If you are interested in joining this new ministry team or are interested in being available to send a meal or help in other unique ways, please contact Lori Robinson by email @ lori.w.robinson@gmail.com.

JOB TRANSITION MINISTRY TEAM

If you are currently in need of employment, let us know what type of employment you seek.  If you know of a job opportunity, let us know and we will post it on a bulletin board at COG and make it known to the congregation.  One key objective of the job transition ministry is to help people seeking work connect with people and companies who have work available. An eventual website for job transitions is a further objective.  We are also available for limited coaching on how to search for and secure a job - if you need help, let us know. Contact the church office or Bob Chinnock at bobchinnock@mchsi.com or 952-443-2506.

ALTAR GUILD

We are looking for 2 - 3 more people to be involved on our Altar Guild.  The Altar Guild takes care of very important worship aspects of Crown of Glory. Responsibilities include seasonal color changes of the banners and paraments in the sanctuary and preparing the elements for communion and holy baptism. If you are interested in a job that does not take a lot of time, but adds so much to our worshipping community, please contact Deb Deutsch. Training is available.
