Writing Instruments Challenge!!

The end of the school year is finally here and it's time to clear out the clutter before heading into the summer to unwind. The Holmes PTA has found an opportunity to turn old writing instruments into cold hard cash. As an incentive, we would like to offer the classroom that collects the most writing instruments by next Friday an ice-cream sandwich treat on Monday 6/15, the last day of school. Here are some suggesting to keep participation simple:

1. Explain the contest to the children and encourage them to ask mom & dad to clean out their junk drawers by giving them all the dried out pens and markers.

2. Identify a collection box or bin in the classroom. Students can even be asked to decorate it.

3. Clean out all the old markers, highlighters and pens that are dried up or won't survive another summer of being stored in a closed up classroom.

4. Next Friday morning, identify a few children to be counters to count the writing instruments.

5. A PTA representative will come by Friday afternoon to collect the writing instruments and will announce the winners.

We're hoping to get 100% participation. The PTA apologizes for the short notice but the opportunity just presented itself yesterday and we'll lose it if we don't use it.
