Campus Beautification -  Feb 21  


 

 

Join us for Campus Beautification Day! 

 

Come help make our school ready for Spring on Feb 21st at 9am-12pm. We'll be moving dirt, putting together garden boxes, raking, sweeping, pulling weeds and making a difference! Bring a friend, everyone is welcome. Please also bring rakes, shovels, gloves (all labeled with your name). Don't forget your hat, sunscreen and a reusable water bottle.

GATE Testing - Feb 9  


 

GATE testing will take place between February 9th and March 5th. Students eligible to be tested:

 

  • All 2nd grade students
  • Students new to the district in grades 3-5
  • Retest eligible 5th grade students

 

Students should get a good night's sleep and eat a healthy breakfast.  If you have any questions please contact school psychologist, Susan Kurata at skurata@sandi.net.

WE COLLECT BOX TOPS! YES, WE DO!

WE COLLECT BOX TOPS! HOW 'BOUT YOU?!

 

A big shout out to two young men (and their families) for bringing in a "Lion's Share" of BOX TOPS for our school!  Romeo (Mrs. Curtis' class) has already brought in 320 (that's $32.00!) BOX TOPS.  While, Jacob (Ms. Whitehurst's class) is right behind him with 308 (that's $30.80!) BOX TOPS!!  Can you catch up to them?!

 

Thank you to all families who continue to tear/cut out those BOX TOPS...keep sending 'em!  We have already raised over $1,500.00 during this school year alone...That's FREE MONEY for Holmes! ;-0

 

Keep an eye out for an update on which classes are in the lead for an end-of-the-year party.  I'll tell you this much...these classes have already collected over 1,000 BOX TOPS each!!

Safety First

The safety of our children comes first at Holmes and we are asking that you PLEASE set a good example for our kids.
 
Please use the cross walks at all times, do not make a u-turn in front of the school and please do not double park for drop off and pick up.     
 
All these actions are not only illegal but create an unsafe environment for our children.

Spelling Bee - Jan 22 - Feb 20

The Annual Spelling Bees for Grades 1-5  has begun!  Your teacher has the Spelling Bee lists.  Begin studying your words now for your Classroom Bee.  The names of the winners need to be submitted by February 20th - so ask your teacher when your Classroom Bee will be held.  Winners of the Classroom Bees will be able to compete at the Grade Level Bees in March.

Parent-Teacher conferences will be held from
March 24-27th with an early 1:15pm dismissal.

Pictures Wanted!

Do you have pictures from the Holmes' movie nights, class parties, Halloween parade, field trips, or other school events?  Share your pictures of the 2014-2015 Holmes school year events with the PTA for consideration in the annual yearbook!  We need your photos!  Visit  www.holmespta.org/yearbook.php for details on submitting your pictures.  Continue capturing those memorable moments!!

Spelling Bee - 3/17 and 3/19
The spelling bee is March 17 and 19.  Four judges are needed each day.  Contact Ms. Celle for details!
