Principal's Family Friday Presentation

At the Sept 5th Family Friday, Principal Saipe shared with parents important school news, a mission statement for Holmes staff, parents and community working together, and his core beliefs for a successful year. Click here to download the presentation.

Book Fair Sept 22 - 25
 
Be sure to visit the Fall Book Fair in the Auditorium.  It's a great way to get your children excited about reading! Students can purchase books during their classroom visits on Monday and Tuesday, as well as during the following times:

 

Mon - Recess, Lunch Recess and after School
Tue - Recess, Lunch Recess and after School
Wed - Recess, Lunch Recess and after School
Thur - Recess, Lunch Recess and on Back to School Night (5pm - 7:30pm) 

 

In order for PTA to be able to keep the Book Fair open for these hours, we NEED parent volunteers to help check out books! 

Back to School Night - Sept 25th
Three Important Events
 in One Evening!

5:00PM - Book Fair

Parents will have the opportunity to browse the book fair with their young scholars and stock their personal or classroom library. Volunteers are needed. Click here for more information or to volunteer.

5:30 - 6:00PM - PTA Association Meeting

Get involved and make a difference! Come and get connected at the first PTA Association Meeting of the school year.  The PTA Board will present the proposed 2014-2015 budget and programs for membership approval.

6:00 - 7:30PM - Teacher Meet & Greet

Parents are invited to meet their child's teacher and learn what is planned in their classroom for the coming school year. 
To accommodate parent work schedules and siblings in multiple grade levels, all classes will have 2 repeated presentations.  Please choose to attend one of the following: 

  

Presentation #1 - 6:00-6:40pm   
Presentation #2 - 6:45-7:30pm

  

This is an adult only event.

Childcare

Back to School Night Childcare will be provided by the YMCA Character Builders Program. Your child will have a blast with an art project, outside games and a movie. A pizza dinner will also be provided. 

  

Fee is $10 per child, $5 per additional sibling if you register by Monday, Sept 22nd.

A $15 late fee will apply for registrations after this date.

Jersey Mike's Dinning for Dollars

  
The week of Sept 29th - Oct 3rd, all day, visit Jersey Mike's for a free sub with $2 donation to Holmes Elementary PTA. Click here for details. 

 

Mileage Club
 





Save the Date for 2nd Annual Bike Rodeo to be held Saturday, October 4 from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon.  There will be something for everyone!  Join the Bike Rodeo for fun activities for students to gain confidence as beginning bicyclists and for those more experienced riders who need to build their skills. Mark your calendars for Wednesday, October 8 for Walk and Roll to School Day.  The parade will depart from Clairemont Covenant Church at 8:40 a.m.  Raise awareness for safer streets by joining the parade with your signs and banners promoting the benefits of walking and biking to school! Wanted: Fanny Packs!
The playground supervisors are in need of 8 fanny packs. Please contact Mary Gantz, the school nurse, if you are  willing to contribute.
 
Mileage Club
 





Register Now for this year's Mileage Club!

It is fun, free and a great way to start the day.

Starts Tuesday, October 7 and meets every Tuesday and Thursday from 8:40 am - 8:55 am

Open to Grades 1-5 (TK and Kindergartners may participate, accompanied by a parent/guardian at all times)

Arts Attack - Volunteers needed!
There's still plenty of time to volunteer for Arts Attack. This Parent led, easy to teach art program is a great opportunity to support the arts at your school! Everything is provided for you to teach/assist once a month in your child's classroom.

The Holmes PTA is once again bringing quality after school enrichment programs to our students. Registration for the Fall sessions is now open.
