The Feb 13th H.E.R.O. Run is our biggest fundraiser of the year. Our goal is to raise $25K (or $40 per student) for educational enrichment and physical education equipment. Prizes will be awarded for the top 3 students that raise the most money for our school:

Students are asked to collect pledges and return their Sponsor sheets with donations by February 28th.  

The H.E.R.O. Run needs your help! Please get involved! Volunteers are needed to count laps in each classroom. This is an easy and rewarding way to participate in this fun community event. Please sign up with your Room Parent ASAP.

Volunteers are also needed to help with set up on the day of H.E.R.O Run. If you can help, please contact Jessie Nettles at jessie.nettles@holmespta.org.

Parents are invited to meet with Principal, Jonathan Saipe, in the Holmes Auditorium on Friday, Feb 7th at 9:10-9:45am. Come get updates on the 2014-2015 budget, staffing projections, class size allocations, school calendar, and Transitional Kindergarten.

From 9:45-10:10am parents are invited to their child's classroom to read or participate in a learning activity. The Holmes PTA will provide coffee and donuts.

Keep on clipping those Box Tops and Labels for Education! Turn them into your child's teacher by Feb 7th to count toward the class contest.  The top three classes will receive a popcorn and juice party.

All San Diego Unified Schools will be closed on Friday, February 14th and on Monday, February 17th in observance of the President's Day Holidays. School will resume on Tuesday, February 18th.

BZZZZZZZZZ ...... The Spelling Bee is coming!  Spelling Bee Lists have been distributed to all students in 1st through 6th Grade. Students are encouraged to practice spelling those words! Spelling Bees will be held in classrooms prior to Friday, Feb 21st.  

Grade level Bees are slated for March 20-21st. Parent volunteers are needed. If interested, contact Christine Groves at christine.groves@holmespta.org.

Clairemont Day at the Bay will be on Saturday, April 12th. In addition to the Fast Times 5K, another race has been added where schools in San Diego county can compete for the Fasttimes5K legacy trophies. Elementary school students will compete for the Paul Greer 1000 legacy trophy. They will run a 1000 m or 1 km and the entree fee will be $10 per student.
