PTA Association Mtg - Jan 23rd

Come and get connected at our next PTA Association Meeting on Thursday, Jan 23rd at 6pm in the Auditorium. PTA members will elect this year's Nominating Committee and review the mid-year budget.  
 
The PTA has also arranged for a special guest speaker: Family Coach, Hilde Gross. She will impart helpful parenting strategies on "Avoiding Everyday Power Struggles" with your kids. See the Flyer for more info.

 

Free Childcare - Jan 23rd

The YMCA will be providing childcare free of charge for those attending the PTA Association Meeting and Parenting Presentation on January 23rd. Childcare is from 6pm to 8pm. No reservations are needed. Parents should arrive 15 minutes early to check their kids in at Room 18.

Nominating Committee Candidates Needed

Influence the future of our PTA as a member of the Nominating Committee! The purpose of the committee is to select the best-qualified people to run for elected PTA Board positions for 2014-2015.

Three members and two alternates are needed to make up the committee which will be elected at the Jan 23rd PTA Association Meeting. If interested, please contact the PTA Parliamentarian, Arlyn Engebretson at arlyn.engebretson@holmespta.org.
 
H.E.R.O. Run - Feb 13th

Our annual H.E.R.O. Run will be held on Thursday, Feb 13th during the 2014 Winter Olympics. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year. Funds raised will go towards educational enrichment and physical education equipment. Students are asked to collect pledges and return their Sponsor sheets with donations by Feb 28th.

Please get involved! Sponsor a child, donate your time and/or ask your company to make a corporate sponsorship (deadline is Feb 2nd). Volunteers are also needed. Please contact Jessie Nettles at 

jessie.nettles@holmespta.org if you can help out.

 

School Tour - Jan 31st
 
We will be holding our final tour for parents of students interested in attending Holmes Elementary on:

Friday, Jan 31st
 
The tour will begin at 9:05am with an orientation in the auditorium followed by visits to classrooms.
 
Spelling Bee 
Spelling Bee Article Subheading
BZZZZZZZZZ ...... The Spelling Bee is coming!  Spelling Bee Lists have been distributed to all students in 1st through 6th Grade. Students are encouraged to practice spelling those words! Spelling Bees will be held in classrooms prior to Friday, Feb 21st.  

Grade level Bees are slated for March 20-21st. Parent volunteers are needed. If interested, contact Christine Groves at christine.groves@holmespta.org.

Box Tops Deadline - Feb 7th

Keep on clipping those Box Tops and Labels for Education! Turn them into your child's teacher by Feb 7th to count toward the class contest.  The top three classes will receive a popcorn and juice party.

Yearbook Pictures Wanted

PTA is already starting to work on the 2013-2014 Holmes Yearbook. The annual yearbook commemorates the school year and features all student class pictures as well as pictures from classroom and school events.

Fast Times 5K Race/Walk - April 12th

The Clairemont Hills Kiwanis and Clairemont Mesa Education Foundation are proud to announce the 2nd Annual Fast Times 5K Race/Walk to be held at Clairemont Day at the Bay on Saturday, April 12, 2014. Event proceeds directly support participating schools in the Clairemont & Madison clusters.
