Family Friday - Jan 10th

Join Principal Jonathan Saipe, in the Holmes Auditorium this Friday, Jan 10th from 9:05-9:45am. Come get updates about district and school news and learn about the new Holmes K-5 transition starting the next school year.

From 9:45-10:10am parents are invited to their child's classroom to read or participate in a learning activity. The Holmes PTA will provide coffee and donuts.
 
Student Recognition Assemblies - Jan 10th & 13th

Our next Student Recognition Assemblies will take place on:

Jan 10th at 1:45pm - Grades K & 1
Jan 10th at 2:45pm - Grades 2 & 3
Jan 13th at 2:30pm - Grades 4/5/6

If your child is being recognized, we hope you can attend. Students take pleasure in sharing this time with their families. Honorees are encouraged to donate a refreshment for the reception that follows the assembly.

Treat your family to lunch or dinner and support our school at the same time. Visit Giovanni's on Balboa Avenue for dine-in or carry-out on Tuesday, Jan 14th from 11:00am - 9:30pm.

Be sure to present the Giovanni's Flyer and 20% of your check will be donated to our school.

 

School Tours - Jan 17th & 31st
 
We will be holding tours for parents of students interested in attending Holmes Elementary on:

Friday, Jan 17th 
Friday, Jan 31st

Tours begin at 9:05am with an orientation in the auditorium followed by visits to classrooms.
 

School Garden Planting - Jan 17th

All classrooms will participate in creating a native plants habitat on the canyon rim with the Holmes HAWKS (Holmes Amazing Wildlife Kids Sanctuary). Students should come to school prepared to get dirty on Friday, Jan 17th!   
 
Parents, want to get involved? Join us for the planting. We will also be coordinating and preparing soil on Thursday, Jan 16th from 9:30am-3pm. Please email Cami Abel at cami.abel@holmespta.org if you can help.

 

PTA Association Mtg - Jan 23rd

Come and get connected at our next PTA Association Meeting on Thursday, Jan 23rd at 6pm in the Auditorium. PTA members will elect this year's Nominating Committee and review the mid-year budget.  
 
The PTA has also arranged for a special guest speaker: Family Coach, Hilde Gross. She will impart helpful parenting strategies on "Avoiding Everyday Power Struggles" with your kids.

You can have a tremendous influence on the future of our PTA as a member of the Nominating Committee! The purpose of the committee is to select the best-qualified people to run for elected PTA Board positions for 2014-2015.

Three members and two alternates are needed to make up the committee which will be elected at the Jan 23rd PTA Association Meeting. If interested, please contact the PTA Parliamentarian, Arlyn Engebretson at arlyn.engebretson@holmespta.org.

H.E.R.O. Run Volunteers Needed

Our annual H.E.R.O. Run will have an Olympic theme this year as it will be held on Feb 13th during the 2014 Winter Olympics.  Volunteers are needed. If interested in helping out, please contact Jessie Nettles at 

 

Yearbook Pictures Wanted

PTA is already starting to work on the 2013-2014 Holmes Yearbook. The annual yearbook commemorates the school year and features all student class pictures as well as pictures from classroom and school events.

Lost & Found

We have another big collection of lost items piling up in the Lost & Found. Please be sure to check for clothing and other items your child might be missing in the bin located next to Room 4.
