Family Friday - Oct 4th

Please join us for Family Friday on Oct 4th at 9:10am in the Auditorium. Come meet with Principal, Jonathan Saipe, and learn more about our feeder schools. The principals from Clairemont High and Marston Middle will also be there to discuss their respective programs. 

From 9:45-10:10am parents are invited to their child's classroom to read or participate in a learning activity. The Holmes PTA will provide coffee and donuts.

 

Pride in the Tribe - Oct 4th

Clairemont High School invites all past, present and future Chieftains and the community to attend Pride in the Tribe on Friday, Oct 4th, starting at 4pm, in the school gym. Meet new principal Dr. Jennifer Roberson, Superintendent Cindy Marten and Board of Education President Dr. John Lee Evans. The event is free and will have activities for all ages. Walk, Bike and Roll to School Challenge - Oct 7th

Help us win $1,000 for school supplies! Get Ready for the Walk, Ride, and Roll to School Challenge on Oct 7-11. Schools with the largest percentage of families logging their carpool, walk, and/or bike to school trips in the online iCommute system can win up to $1,000 for school supplies. Our annual Walk to School Parade will take place on Wed, Oct 9th from 8:40 - 8:55am. The Parade will begin at the Clairemont Covenant Church at 5255 Mt. Ararat Dr.

 

Carpool to School with SchoolPool

Would you like to make school drop-off and pick-up easier, healthier, and less stressful? Try walking, biking or carpooling to and from school! Holmes has registered with SANDAG iCommute SchoolPool Program, which is a free carpool ridematching service for families who attend the same school. SchoolPool also matches for bikers and walkers.

Mileage Club - Oct 8th
Mileage Club
Mileage Club starts on October 8th and meets every Tuesday & Thursday at 8:40-8:55am at the dirt lot behind the school. It's a fun way to stay healthy, meet with your friends, and wake up your brain for the school day.

This FREE Program (funded by Holmes PTA) is for Grades 1-6. (K can participate with parent supervision). For more information and to register, visit our Mileage Club Web page.

Please be sure to return your child's Enrollment Verification Form. It is very important that the School Office have current contact information in case of an emergency.  Please also to remember to sign the back of the Form.

First Box Top Deadline - Oct 11th

Be sure to clip those Box Tops from participating products and turn them into your child's teacher. Every Box Top you collect is worth 10 cents to our school. 

Oct 11th is the first Box Top collection deadline.  The top 3 classes to turn in the most Box Tops at the end of the year will receive a Class Party.  Halloween Helpers are Batty for Box Tops!  Download and return this fun Box Top Collection Worksheet.

 

Bike Rodeo - Oct 12th

Come celebrate your week of Walking, Riding, and Rolling to school with a Bike Rodeo on Saturday, Oct 12th from 12:00 - 2:00pm at the Upper Field blacktop (behind Room 18). 
 
Learn valuable bicycling skills and safety - all levels of riders welcome! Bring your bike for a check-up and your helmet for a fit test. This event is co-hosted by the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition and the Holmes PTA. 

 

Hawkeye Submission Deadline - Oct  14th

The first issue of the Holmes Elementary School Newsletter, The Hawkeye, is in production. The deadline for submissions is Monday, October 14th. Please email any information and/or pictures that you would like to have considered for this edition to Amy Lisson at 

 

Help for Halloween Carnival - Oct 26th

The Halloween Carnival Committee is looking for Dads, Grandpas, Uncles, etc. to help with Carnival set-up and break down. We are also looking for volunteers to help with the Greeting Booth, Hot Dog Grill and the Haunted House.
