Back to School Night - Sept 26

Don't miss Back to School Night tonight: Thursday, Sept 26th from 6:00-7:30pm. Come meet your child's teacher and learn about classroom plans for the school year. 
 
All classes will have 2 repeated presentations.  Please choose to attend one of the following sessions (adults only please). Childcare is available with the YMCA. 
 
Presentation #1 - 6:00-6:40pm 
Presentation #2 - 6:45-7:30pm

Last Day of Scholastic Book Fair -  Sept 26th
Book Fair Spring 2013
Be sure to visit the Book Fair in the Holmes Auditorium.  It's the last day to shop! Students can purchase books during recess, lunch, and after school. Parents can also shop at Back to School Night from 5-8pm. Don't forget to check out the teachers' wish lists and to consider donating a book to your child's classroom.

We could still use some volunteers to help check out books today! If you can help, please sign up here.

YMCA

 

Still need childcare for Back to School Night? The YMCA is offering childcare from 6:00-7:30pm in the YMCA Room (Rm 18). Your child will play games, watch a movie, and have FUN! Cost is $10 per child, $5 for siblings. Dinner is included.

The registration deadline has passed, but you can still register and incur a $15 late fee. To register, email Cristian Gijon at cgijon@ymca.org, call 619-520-9059. For more information, download the YMCA Flyer.

Carpool to School with SchoolPool

Would you like to make school drop-off and pick-up easier, healthier, and less stressful? Try walking, biking or carpooling to and from school! Holmes has registered with SANDAG iCommute SchoolPool Program, which is a free carpool ridematching service for families who attend the same school. SchoolPool also matches for bikers and walkers.

Walk, Bike and Roll to School Day - Oct 9th
Walk, Bike or Roll to School Article Subheading
Get Ready for the Walk, Ride, and Roll to School Challenge on Oct 7-11. Schools with the largest percentage of families logging their carpool, walk, and/or bike to school trips in the online iCommute system can win up to $1,000 for school supplies. Our annual Walk to School Parade will take place on Wed, Oct 9th from 8:30 - 8:55am. It's a healthy way to start your day! If you can help with planning, contact Jen Kennedy at jen.kennedy@holmespta.org 

 

Mileage Club - Oct 8th
Mileage Club
Mileage Club starts on October 8th and meets every Tuesday & Thursday at 8:40-8:55am at the dirt lot behind the school. It's a fun way to stay healthy, meet with your friends, and wake up your brain for the school day.

This FREE Program (funded by Holmes PTA) is for Grades 1-6. (K can participate with parent supervision). For more information and to register, visit our Mileage Club Web page.

Seeking Arts Attack Volunteers
 
Would you like to be involved in your child's classroom? Do you love art? Do you have a couple of hours a month to
spare? Consider volunteering for Arts Attack! We are looking for grade level coordinators, as well as classroom volunteers. Be a part of this fun, PTA sponsored program and support our youth in arts!
