Back to School Night Childcare - Sign up NOW
YMCA

 

Need childcare for Back to School Night on Sept 26th? The YMCA is offering childcare from 6:00-7:30pm in the YMCA Room (Rm 18). Your child will play games, watch a movie, and have FUN! Cost is $10 per child, $5 for siblings. Dinner is included.

Registration Deadline is Monday, Sept 23rd. To register, email Cristian Gijon at cgijon@ymca.org, call 619-520-9059, or return the YMCA Flyer. 
 
Scholastic Book Fair - Sept 23rd - 26th
Book Fair Spring 2013
We need volunteers to help check out books at our Fall Book Fair Sept 23 - 26 in the Holmes Auditorium!  If you can help, please sign up here.

Be sure to visit the Book Fair - it's a great way to get your children excited about reading! Students can purchase books during recess, lunch, and after school on Mon-Thu. Parents can also shop during class visits on Mon and Tues, as well as on Thursday night at Back to School Night from 5-8pm.

     
Give with Target - Last Chance to Vote!

Target is giving money to schools for one simple act: a Vote! Our school needs just 25 votes to earn $25 from Target.  For each additional vote, our school will get $1 more.  You can vote for Holmes Elementary once a week through Sept 21st.  If you are a Facebook member, go to GiveWith.Target.com. Be sure to make your last vote during this week.

Back to School Night - Sept 26

Back to School Night is on Thursday, Sept 26th from 6:00-7:30pm. Meet your child's teacher and learn about classroom plans for the school year. 
 
To accommodate parent work schedules and siblings in multiple grade levels, all classes will have 2 repeated presentations.  Please choose to attend one of the following sessions (adults only please). Childcare will be available with the YMCA. 
 
Presentation #1 - 6:00-6:40pm 
Presentation #2 - 6:45-7:30pm

Mileage Club - Oct 8th
Mileage Club
Mileage Club starts on October 8th and meets every Tuesday & Thursday at 8:40-8:55am at the dirt lot behind the school. It's a fun way to exercise, meet with your friends, and wake up your brain for the school day.

This FREE Program (funded by Holmes PTA) is for Grades 1-6. (K can participate with parent supervision). For more information and to register, visit our Mileage Club Web page.

Are you the parent of a GATE student?
Join our GATE email list to stay informed on the GATE program and GATE news within the district. Please email Chandra Innes and Teresa King at teresa.king@holmespta.org.

Please also mark your calendars for the GATE District Advisory Committee meeting on Monday, November 18th. San Diego Unified School District's new superintendent, Cindy Marten, will be in attendance.
 
Seeking Arts Attack Volunteers
 
Would you like to be involved in your child's classroom? Do you love art? Do you have a couple of hours a month to
spare? Consider volunteering for Arts Attack! We are looking for grade level coordinators, as well as classroom volunteers. Be a part of this fun, PTA sponsored program and support our youth in arts!
