Spring Fling - May 11th

Join us on Saturday, May 11th from 11am to 4pm as we celebrate Holmes' 51st Birthday with the Spring Fling. This year's theme is "A Garden Party: Butterflies and Blooms".
This will be another great community event that will have something for everyone to enjoy including: a Cake Show, a Student Art Show, a Student Choral Music Performance, free arts and crafts, entertainment and food. Please be sure to come and bring your friends and family!

| Teacher Appreciation Week - May 6th to 10th | |  Article SubheadingTeachers play a key role in our child's academic success, and sometimes a simple "thanks" is all a teacher needs to feel valued. Teacher Appreciation Week (May 6th through May 10th) is the perfect time to personally thank our Holmes teachers for their dedication and support of our children throughout the year. Holmes has the best teachers! Let's show them how much we appreciate them this week. |
| Student Recognition Assembly - May 9th | |  Article SubheadingOur final Student Recognition Assembly of the year will take place on Thursday, May 9th at 2:30pm for Grades 2 & 3. If your child is being recognized, we hope you can attend. Students take pleasure in sharing this time with their families. Honorees are encouraged to donate a refreshment for the reception that follows the assembly. |
| Spring Fling Art Show Set up - May 10th | |  Article SubheadingOur annual Student Art Show will take place during Spring Fling on May 11th. Make sure you visit the library and view some of the wonderful works of art the students have been creating this year through our PTA Funded Arts Attack Program. The Art Show committee will begin setting up in the library on Friday, May 10th at 12:30pm. If you can lend a hand even for a 1/2 hour, we would really appreciate it! |

Last Day of Mileage Club - May 14th

Mileage Club will be ending this month. We have had up to 133 students come out and run/walk over 6,000 miles so far this year! Thank you to all of the volunteers who come out and count laps! Mileage Club participants, please note the following dates:

| Dining for Dollars - May 16th | |  Article SubheadingThe more you eat, the more we raise! Come to our pizza fundraiser at Mountain Mike's Pizza on Clairemont Drive on Thursday, May 16th from 11am to 9pm. Present the Mountain Mike's invitation and up to 30% of all orders placed will be donated to support the students at Holmes. |

Box Top Contest Deadline - May 17th

The last collection date for Box Tops is on Friday, May 17th. In order for them to count in our Box Top Contest, they must not be expired, the date must be visible, and the Box Top must be cut along the dotted lines.
The top three classes with the most Box Tops for the year will win a Popcorn & Juice Party. Winners will be announced the last week of May.

| Madison Tri Mathlon - May 17th | | Article Subheading The Madison Community of Schools and Mathnasium Point Loma invite all 3rd-6th graders in the Madison cluster to join them for their Tri Mathlon on Friday, May 17th. This fun math contest is from 6:00 - 8:30pm at Madison High School. Prizes and raffles will be awarded! Download and return the Tri Mathlon Registration Form by May 11th. |

| Music Class Open House - May 28th & 30th | |  Article SubheadingParents and family of K-4th Graders are invited to our Music Class Open House. Come see what your child has been learning in music class this year and meet our new music teacher, Kirk Valles. Open Houses will be held during regular music class times on Tuesday, May 28th and Thursday May 30th in Room 18 (YMCA room). Choral Music is funded by the Holmes PTA for grades K-4. |
| Family Science Night - May 29th | |  Article Subheading
Family Science Night will be on
Wednesday, May 29th at 6:30 - 8:00pm in the Holmes Auditorium. This hands on event, "Beyond the Magic", is put on by the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center. This is a free event, sponsored by Holmes PTA. Space is limited - first come, first served. To register and/or sign up to volunteer, return the Science Night Flyer to your child's teacher.
