Principal Saipe in a Pink Tutu?  We made it happen!

We did it!! We surpassed our Spring Donation Drive goal of $15,000 and raised $16,212!! 
PTA thanks all of the families, friends and businesses that contributed to our fundraiser.
 
Principal Saipe wore his pink tutu on Monday, April 15th and students will be able to eat lunch with their friends one day a week through the end of the school year!  
 
But most importantly, the students will continue to benefit from the great programs we offer at Holmes such as Choral Music, Technology, Arts Attack, Field Trips, Classroom support and more.  Thanks for your support!!
 
H.E.R.O. Run Awards - April 22nd

PTA would also like to thank all the volunteers who helped make the H.E.R.O. Run another successful community event at Holmes!  Awards for the top lap runners for each grade will be distributed during the Monday morning announcements on Monday, April 22nd. Congratulations to our winning runners!

  

STAR Testing - April 17th to May 14th

Beginning Wed, April 17th through Tue, May 14th, students in Grades 2 through 6 are taking very important tests as part of the California Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) program. Parents/volunteers in these grades will not have access to the classrooms from 9:05-11:30am on these dates.

 

Please schedule any necessary appointments for your child during the afternoons or after school.  To minimize classroom interruptions, students arriving more than FIVE minutes tardy during these dates will be required to remain in the office or the library until the testing period is complete for that day.  

For more information on the tests and on preparing your child for taking them, please download a copy of the STAR Testing letter sent home this week.

Hawkeye Submission Deadline - April 19th

We are currently accepting submissions for inclusion in our school Hawkeye newsletter. If you have interesting school news or a community event to share with Holmes families, please submit it to Janette Gradyan, at jgradyan@san.rr.com. Articles should be in a Word document and submitted no later than Friday, April 19th. We appreciate your contributions to the Hawkeye!
 
Clairemont Fast Times 5K - April 21st

The first annual Fast Times 5K Race/Walk and Clairemont Day at the Bay is being held Sunday, April 21st at DeAnza Cove in Mission Bay Park. Movie Night - April 26th

Come enjoy a free, family-friendly movie with other Holmes families on Friday, April 26th at 6:30pm in the Auditorium. The movie will be Wreck-It Ralph, Rated PGAs usual, there will be food, drinks and snacks available for purchase. This free community event is sponsored by Holmes PTA.

Treat your family to lunch or dinner while supporting our school! Visit Rubio's (The Home of the Original Fish Taco) in Kearny Mesa on Saturday, March April 27th from 11am to 9pm. Dine in, take food To Go or pick up a Rubio's a-Go-Go Catering order.

Safe School Plan Training - April 30th

Parents, teachers, and school administrators are invited to attend a free training on Safe School Planning and School Crisis Response. Hosted by the San Diego County Office of Education and partnering with the San Diego Police Department, the training will take place on Tuesday, April 30th at 8:30 - 4:00pm. Join Cub Scouts - May 2nd
Cub Scouting Fun at every turn
Cub Scouting offers boys a year-round, family-oriented program that is filled with character-building activities. Cub Scout Pack 299 invites all boys in K-5th Grades and their parents to learn more about scouting at our mini-Carnival and Ice Cream Social 
on Thursday, May 2nd at
6:30pm in the Holmes Auditorium.

Spring Fling Cake Show - May 11th

We invite you and/or your child to participate in a friendly competition of confection. Show off your talents and creativity by entering a cake designed in a "Spring Garden theme" for our 5th Annual Cake Decorating Competition during Spring Fling on May 11th.
