| Family Friday - April 12th | | Article SubheadingParents are invited to meet with Principal, Jonathan Saipe, in the auditorium on Friday April 12th from 9:10-10:10 a.m. Come and learn about our approved budget for 2013-2014, review our most recent benchmark assessment data, and receive some test prep resources. | Principal Saipe in a Pink Tutu? We made it happen! | | Article SubheadingWe have raised $14,749 of our $15,000 fundraising goal!! Principal Saipe will color his hair pink, wear a pink Tutu and a pink t-shirt to school on Monday, April 15th!! Thank you for helping to make this happen! If we can raise the full $15,000, the Principal will let students eat lunch with their friends one day a week through the end of the school year. If you haven't yet made a contribution, please do so by Friday, April 12th. Submit cash or check donations payable to Holmes PTA. Download the Spring Donation Drive Form attached to the H.E.R.O. | Yearbook Orders - Due April 12th & 16th | | Article SubheadingOrder your 2012-2013 Holmes yearbook now! Order forms have been sent home with your child. Standard yearbooks are $25 and orders are due by April 16th. Personalized yearbooks with your child's name printed on the front in gold foil are $30 and orders are due April 12th. Order forms can be turned into your child's teacher or the front office. Please note the deadlines, as late orders cannot be accepted. Yearbooks will be distributed the week of June 3rd. Questions? Variety Show Auditions - April 16th
| | Does your child sing? Dance? Play an instrument? Is s/he a comedian? Juggler? Actor? Have a special talent? Be sure to audition for the Variety Show during school on Tuesday, April 16th. Audition Forms must be submitted by Friday, April 12th.
The Variety Show will be held on Friday, May 31st. There will be a day performance for students and an evening show for parents. | Spring Portraits - Orders Due April 16th | | Article SubheadingSpring portraits came home with your child this week. These portraits are available for purchase and are not free. Choose the portraits you wish to keep. Return your payment and/or the portraits you do not want to your child's teacher by Tuesday, April 16th. | STAR Testing - April 17 through May 30th | | Article SubheadingBeginning Wed, April 17th through Tue, May 14th, students in Grades 2 through 6 will be taking very important tests as part of the California Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) program. Parents/volunteers in these grades will not have access to the classrooms from 9:05-11:30am on these dates. Please schedule any necessary appointments for your child during the afternoons. To minimize classroom interruptions, students arriving more than FIVE minutes tardy during these dates will be required to remain in the office or the library until the testing period is complete for that day.

| Middle School Parent Meeting - April 17th | | Article SubheadingPrincipal Dr. Elizabeth Cook from Marston Middle School and principal Harlan Klein from Innovation Middle School will hold a parent meeting at Holmes on Wednesday, April 17th from 5:00-6:00pm to discuss their respective programs. | Clairemont Fast Times 5K - April 21st | | Article SubheadingThe first annual Fast Times 5K Race/Walk and Clairemont Day at the Bay is being held Sunday, April 21st at DeAnza Cove in Mission Bay Park. Come enjoy a free, family-friendly movie with other Holmes families on Friday, April 26th at 6:30pm in the Auditorium. The movie will be Wreck-It Ralph, Rated PG. As usual, there will be food, drinks and snacks available for purchase. This free community event is sponsored by Holmes PTA.
