Family Friday - Nov 2nd

Parents are invited to meet with Principal, Jonathan Saipe, in the auditorium on Friday, Nov 2nd from 9:10-9:45am.

Come get updates about district and school news, learn a simple yet effective reading strategy, and have an 
opportunity to share ideas on how to 
make Holmes an even better school.   
 
From 9:45-10:15am parents can go to their child's classroom to read or participate in a learning activity. Starbucks Coffee will be provided by the Holmes PTA.
 
School Picture Orders - Due Nov 2nd

All students have had their school pictures taken and proofs have been sent home.

Picture orders are due by Friday, Nov 2nd. Please note that the pose on the far left of the proof sheet is used in the yearbook unless you specify otherwise on your order form.  For information on ordering, please visit the Holmes Web site at http://www.sandi.net/holmes

 

Daylight Savings Time - ends Nov 4th

Just a friendly reminder to turn your clock back one hour before going to bed on Saturday night.  Daylight Savings Time ends on November 4th at 2:00am.

 
Recycling Contest  - Begins Nov 5th

We're collecting more than used ink cartridges and cell phones this year. Please send those items in, as well as, video games/systems, DVD movies, old laptops, digital cameras, GPS systems and iPods.  We're collecting it all!  Be sure to mark your items with your child's room number.  The contest runs November 5th through December 7th.  The winning class will receive a $50 check to spend as it chooses.

Election Day is on November 6th.  Please be sure to vote! The Holmes PTA encourages you to get educated on two important ballot measures: Prop 30 & Prop 38.  Both initiatives provide vital funding to California schools.  For more information, visit the San Diego Unified School District web site or www.ourchildrenourfuture2012.com.

 

 

Student Council Elections - Nov 6th

Elections for Student Council Classroom Representatives will take place in 3rd through 6th grade classrooms on November 6th.

 

The first Student Council meeting will be held on November 8th at 12:55pm in Room 4. The Student Council will elect the officers from the elected Classroom Representatives on November 29th.

 

Student Recognition Assemblies - Next week

The first of our student recognition assemblies will take place next week: 

Nov 8th at 1:30pm - K & 1st Grade 
Nov 8th at 2:30pm - 4-6th Grades 
Nov 9th at 2:30pm - 2 & 3rd Grades 

Two to three volunteers are needed to help serve refreshments. If you can help out at any or all of the assemblies, please contact Christine Groves at 619-723-9542 or email christine.groves@holmespta.org.

Lost & Found
lost and found
Have you checked out the Lost & Found lately? Valuable items such as jewelry, watches, glasses, sunglasses, phones or other small items, have been turned in to the Office Lost & Found. Please stop by the Office between 8:30am - 4:00pm or call (858) 496-8110 to retrieve them.

Students' clothing, backpacks and lunch items that have been left behind can be found in the Lost & Found in the lunch courtyard area.
