Safety webinar being held
NAR is hosting a free webinar on Tuesday, June 3 at 3 p.m. EST to cover personal safety at work, home and when traveling. While rare, violence against real estate agents illustrates the dangers that real estate professionals face in showing homes to strangers, holding open houses for sellers, or meeting prospective clients for the first time. The webinar will discuss what an attacker looks for; how agents can minimize their chances of being attacked; why most crime is committed; and common sense personal safety techniques. Read More.

Kentucky's primary elections
The Primary Election will be on Tuesday, May 20, 2014. Polls will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (local time). The deadline to register to vote for the Primary Election was April 21, 2014. The deadline to register to vote for the General Election is October 6, 2014.

Due to redistricting some of the precincts have changed in various locations, to be sure of the correct polling location for voting, Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes encourages Kentucky voters to take advantage of online services available to help them prepare for the May 20 Primary Election.

Through the Secretary of State's website, www.sos.ky.gov, citizens can verify their polling place, check the races in which they are eligible to vote, and research candidates. The Voter Information Center (VIC) contains registration information, polling place locations, and driving directions from voters' registered addresses to their polling places. Read More.
Candidates supported by Kentucky RPAC
How you vote is a personal decision, but it can also be a professional decision. Your fellow REALTORS have worked hard to analyze races, review voting records, and interview candidates. Before you cast your ballot, please consider the candidates that your colleagues have identified as the most qualified to make important decisions that will impact the future of the real estate industry.

The Kentucky REALTORS Political Action Committee (RPAC) supports state candidates in Commonwealth who share our position on issues such as protecting property rights, promoting smart growth, creating affordable housing opportunities, and encouraging economic development -- regardless of partisan affiliation. To view a list of candidates who are recommended for election by Kentucky RPAC in the May primary election, check the KAR Facebook page (and like the page if you haven't already).
NAR President Steve Brown announces Consumer Call for Action
NAR is conducting the first test of the Consumer Outreach Program by launching a Consumer Call for Action (CCFA) to 85 million homeowners, including several million prospective owners, across the country. The CCFA commenced on April 30, 2014, and will run through mid-July (at least). This consumer outreach will help NAR find out more about how they should communicate with consumers in the future. It is part of a concerted homeownership awareness, education and action campaign by NAR to demonstrate to homeowners that REALTORS share concerns with consumers on issues relating to homeownership; and that REALTORS can be counted on to articulate those concerns and stand up for consumers at the federal, state and local level.
2014 Legislation - effective date
