BOD actions at the KAR Leadership Conference
Last week, the KAR Board met at the conclusion of the Leadership Conference. The following actions were taken: - Approved Vaughn and Smith, PLLC to provide legal counsel services to KAR.
- Approved the 2014 committee chairs and vice chairs (the list is available here). Committee appointment notifications will be mailed soon to members who were placed on a committee(s).
- Approved to appointments to the KREC Selection Committee, the Personnel Committee and Coordinating Directors.
- Approved the following RPAC Trustees: Region 2 - Nita Allen and Linda Sparrow, Region 5 - Sue Ann Collins and Mike Becker, Region 6 - Emily Hacker, At-large - Mary Carpenter and Ann McDonald. 2014 RPAC Chair is Jayne Cox, RPAC Vice Chair is Ann Elizabeth Delahanty and RPAC Treasurer is Brenda Loyal.

DOM Total days on market, according to the figures reported, have decreased over the year compared to 2012. In September 2013, DOM dropped from 158 days a year prior to 134 days (15%).

Association arbitration award affirmed
A Michigan court has considered a challenge to an arbitration award from a proceeding conducted by the Flint Area Association of REALTORS® ("Association"). The Association arbitrated a commission dispute between Wendy Sabo & Associates ("Challenger") and American Associates, Inc./Randall Haney ("Prevailing Party"). KY General Assembly "Issues" book available
A book containing issue briefs on topics likely to confront lawmakers during the Kentucky General Assembly's 2014 session is now available in print and online. This book contains 46 issue briefs prepared by members of the Legislative Research Commission staff. Real estate related issue briefs include: Professional Or Driver's Licenses, Eminent Domain and Local Occupational License Tax. The book reflects a balanced look at some of the main topics that have been discussed in legislative committee meetings. Appraisal courses are through McKissock Online Education and include the USPAP course as well as a selection of over 20 elective courses needed to complete the annual training requirements.
