Updates from the NAR BOD meeting     


The Board of Directors, at its May 18 meeting, on the last day of the 2013 NAR Midyear Legislative Meetings & Trade Expo in Washington, approved a modification to MLS Policy Statement 7.57 to provide additional guidance on the categorization of programs, products, and services as "core," "basic," or "optional" services.  

 

The BOD also set the 2014-2016 budget, made changes to GRI, professional standards, held elections and took action in several other areas of association policy.

 

2014 NAR Officers
The Board elected for its 2014 officers the following members:
Chris Polychron, Hot Springs, Ark., President-Elect
Tom Salomone, Coral Springs, Fla., First Vice President
Mike McGrew, Lawrence, Kans., Treasurer

Steve Brown of Dayton, Ohio, automatically moves up as president from his position as 2013 President-Elect.

The First Vice President seat was contested. Salomone won the seat by a vote of 344 to 337 against Jim Helsel of Camp Hill, Pa., a former NAR Treasurer.

National Mortgage Settlement: KY status        

 

Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway today announced that the nation's five largest mortgage servicers continue to provide direct relief to homeowners in Kentucky and across the country as part of the historic national mortgage foreclosure settlement. According to the fourth post-settlement report released today by the independent settlement monitor, 1,757 Kentucky homeowners received more than $61.1 million in settlement-related relief from Ally/GMAC, Bank of America, Citi, Chase and Wells Fargo through March 31, 2013. Borrowers received an average of $34,806 in assistance.

Appraisal courses now being offered online      


KREEF is now offering online appraisal courses through McKissock Online Education. These courses include the USPAP course as well as a selection of over 20 elective courses needed to complete the annual training requirements.

The classes are approved by the Appraisal Qualifying Board (AQB) and also approved for Continuing Education by the Kentucky Real Estate Appraisers Board.
