Service Spotlight

Winter is on the way which means it is time to get your GARN WHS unit up and running. Here is a short primer on what to do. Basically..... Inspect, clean and replace:
  • Remove and inspect the anode rod(s); replace as required. Both rigid and segmented replacement anode rods are available.
  • Top off the water until it just runs out the overflow. Send a water sample to Mike at Precision Chem. Add chemical if required as directed by Mike.
  • Remove upper and lower clean out plates. Inspect and, if required, brush clean the flue tubes. Flue tube cleaning brushes, cleaning rods and replacement gaskets are available.
  • GARNhint - when replacing flat gaskets, thoroughly clean the steel mating face. Wrap the gasket with aluminum foil to facilitate easier removal in the future. Also apply antiseize thread compound to the studs.
  • Check the combustion air inlet duct and hood for obstructions. Clean as required. Confirm operation of the damper if so equipped. Replace parts if damaged.
  • Check all flue connections to make sure they are gas tight. Inspect and clean the flue as required. If the flue exits horizontally, make sure a steel barrel with spark screen is in proper position.
  • Check all wiring connections and control operation.
