NOTE FROM BILLY

Hello,

I hope you like the new newsletter format.  Most of the redesign and scheduling was based on what we learned from our readers' survey.

We will soon launch a new parallel website that will also provide a broader view of goings on around town by linking to other sources.

Last week was pretty active as I responded to many calls and emails about "unleashed" growth on Ladys Island,  the "massacre of trees" to make room for development, "noise ordinance" in the downtown entertainment district downtown, the proliferation of short term rentals, neighbors concerned about a new play area at a church, a driveway that was damaged when state road paving subcontractors repaved the street and much more. (Oh yes, I responded to the alarm that went out about a prize Live Oak that was allegedly cut from Open Land Trust Trees on St. Helena, Island. Turns out it was a dead laurel oak that was removed from private property.)

It seems never-ending.  Fortunately, I enjoy the discourse and realize that those who do not live in the city limits are important to our sustainability and growth. Accordingly, they deserve civil and complete responses.  I do my best.

Likely the most important news this week is that the Boundary Street weekly update meetings have been moved from Fridays to Thursday 4:00-6:00 pm at City Hall. If you walk into the building on the ground floor (above ground basement), you will see charts and plans displayed.

On Tuesday we have a City Council work session and regular council meeting.

As usual, there is a lot going on it our small vibrant city. Take the time to enjoy what others offer our community.
