Invitation to Help Our Coast

When problems seem large and out of our reach, there is often something we can do to help.  Since Frank Knapp, the President and CEO of the SC Small Business Association, and I attended meetings in Washington to opposed seismic testing and offshore drilling off of the Atlantic Coast, the SCSBA has organized a campaign to oppose seismic testing.  If you feel strongly about this, you may want to take the time to sign their letter opposing offshore drilling. Another Round on Economic Development

There is nothing less attractive to me than political discord among local governments. Yet, sometimes after meeting after meeting with nothing accomplished and when your views are not heard, we need to acknowledge
"the emperor wears no clothes" when that is the truth.

The purpose of this exchange, as reported in the news was not meant to be as harsh as it may sound and was reported.  Rather the conversation was an expression of frustration and the firm commitment of the four mayors in Beaufort County would want an economic development collaboration.

I would prefer we sit down together, work out our differences and find ways to collaborate, particularly when we are talking about diversifying our job base and creating opportunities for those who grow up here to be able to find jobs.
