Happy 4th of July everyone! I hope you are all enjoying this great weather and planning on expressing your independence tomorrow.
It's the first Saturday of the month and that means it's Sale Saturday. Stop by your favorite vendors to see what items have the blue "sale" tags on them for some great savings.
Julie of The Family Farm will have all of her hanging baskets on sale for $20 regularly $25-$30. Gorgeous begonias and fuchsias will brighten up any patio and you can't beat this price for premium hanging baskets.
Johnston Farms will have Sugar Snap peas on sale for $5/lb. They don't call these peas Sugar Snap for nothing. They are really sweet and crunchy and taste delish raw or cooked. Boost the nutrition on that macaroni salad by cutting up some of these peas and mixing them in. No need to shell them, you eat them shell and all. Christie will also have basil starts, salad mix and some beautiful red romaine and Red Merlox lettuce which is a kind of oak leaf lettuce. These dark red lettuces really ad interest and color to the same old green salad. Give them a try.
Nash's will have arugula bunches for $2 each and a recipe for arugula pesto. They will also have the first raspberries of the season, beets, radishes, baby bok choy and baby cabbage leaves. Great for salads or sauteing.
This is the last Saturday for strawberry shortcake, the perfect tasty treat for a 4th of July weekend. Nothing says summer like strawberries. Bring your friends down and help support the Market with your purchase of a strawberry shortcake for only $5%
Love Birds Bakery has been showing up with a small grill the last couple of weeks along with all those great gluten free bakery goods and cold drinks. If you have not tried a piece of their gluten free grilled pizza you'll want to check it out. It has been getting rave reviews from gluten and gluten-free customers alike. Stop by, give it a try and see what other great grilled treats they have in store!
The City Council joins us this week for their monthly meet and greet from 10am-12pm. Meet some of your council members and have a chat about what's new in Port Angeles.
Come walk the parade route with your friends from the PA Farmers Market. We'll be dressing up in our best farm wear, veggie costumes and...who knows what else to "walk the walk" and show our town that our farmers, producers and artisans are real American heroes. It's gonna be TOO MUCH FUN! Meet us in the Vern Burton parking lot at 5:30 and wear your best farmer get up! Look for Nash's blue truck. Musical guest this week is our buddy Thom Davis so come on down and have a listen.
