Clark Farms' Holly Clark and intern Brendan Carpenter
Fourth of July is next weekend so get ready to "crank up" the barbque and make this 4th patriotic, local and nutritionally sound with Clark Farms grass fed, grass finished steaks. Choose from London Broil, sirloin, T-bone, rib steak, Porter House or tenderloin. To celebrate, Clark Farms rib steaks will be on sale for $13.99 a pound. Want pork? Try barbquing some of Clark Farms pork sausages in brat size at $7.99 a pound. Stop by their booth and prepare to celebrate!
It's finally here! Strawberry Shortcake Saturday! Whoo hoo! We'll have it all day at the Market so give yourself a treat and pick one up.
You basil lovers will be happy to know that Christie will have purple and Thai basil starts this week to go along with all her other fresh cut herbs like cilantro, tarregon, sage, parsley, rosemary, (there's a song in there somewhere) oregano and chives. She will also have lots of radishes, sugar snap peas and spinach.
Nash's special veggie this weekend is GARLIC SCAPES!!!! Easier to use and with a milder, more verdant flavor, this garlic rope goes perfect in sautes, pastas, eggs, pizzas, you name it! Anything you can do with garlic, you can do with garlic scapes, and without the peeling! New this week in limited quantities: red russian kale, purple mizuna, broccoli, baby dill, and cilantro! Also coming out of the field in steady rotations are spinach, fava beans, romanesco and rainbow chard. Those folks at Nash's have been busy!
Another new vendor joined us on Wednesday. Paige Belfry is a Crazy Mountain Woman! No really. That's the name of her business; Crazy Mountain Woman. Paige is a farmer and currently has TONS of spinach but she also makes incredible soap. It's really fine. I'm already in love with the honey-carrot soap. Stop by and say hello to Paige and give her a big PAFM welcome. She is cute as a bug!
Coming up in this weeks Sunday PDN, another great article from Betsy Wharton. She'll be talking about canning so you'll will want to seek it out.
Musical Guest this week is Chris Eric and Sunday Speedtrap. This is Chris's third year playing the Market and we are glad to have him back. Check it out!
