The Family Farm Greenhouse
|
It must be spring because Market news is "springing up" all over! Let's get started!
We have several of our veteran vendors rejoining us this week. Julie and The Family Farm return this week with their gorgeous hanging baskets; perfect for that special Easter gift. Our mild winter combined with Julie and Wayne's considerable expertise has produced the most gorgeous fuchsias and begonias I've ever seen. Welcome back Julie!
Our wonderful weaver, Debi Breitbach-Glass returns with what she tells me are "very colorful" hats made from hand spun, hand dyed wools from her hand raised sheep! It doesn't get more local than that! She'll also have her well known rag rugs, scarves and roving in natural colors including alpaca roving. Wow! a knitters dream. Welcome back Debi!
Mike Caldwell of Mike's Cedar Works returns with his first rate cedar patio furniture. beautiful hand crafted wood finished to perfection. It's not too early to be thinking about enjoying your outdoor rooms. He has just what you need to make those rooms something special. Welcome back Mike!
Our other flower vendor, Amie of Amie's Garden also returns this week. Amie will be bringing cut flowers, wicker baskets with spring bulbs, azaleas, cyclamen and a few sedums. Welcome back Amie!
Ok, let's move on to the food. Nash's will have rainbow Lacinato kale, Nash's red kale, red Russian kale, turnip greens, collard greens, and Brussels sprout raabs! Lacinato kale (aka dinosaur kale) raab will be on sale. New this week...nettles! A beautiful spring green rich in vitamins A and K and great for allergies, among a host of other things! While you're there pick up their recipe for raab and white bean soup. (insert lip smacking here)
Christie Johnston will have eggs for egg salad, or deviled eggs ( she likes to call them Angel eggs !) and a special recipe for Angel eggs. She says brown eggs make the best colored eggs because they produce a deeper, richer color! Eggs will be on sale 2 doz/ $9.00. She will also have lettuce starts, Tulameen raspberry starts and mashing potatoes; German Yellow, Red Norland and Inca Gold on sale. 10# bag 12.00 ( a $3.00 savings!) Our friends at SpringRain Farm will be bringing lots of lamb this week. Leg of lamb, lamb shanks, shoulder roasts, ground, kebab, and riblets. Another great meal option for your Easter dinner.
Renaissance returns! We all need our cheese fix and we've been missing them at the Market so a big "welcome back" goes out to them. Drop in and see what's new.Next Saturday we start our first Saturday of the month sale day. More details in next week's newsletter.
