The Birds and The BeadsSpring is only 11 days away (though my garden is saying it's here now) and daylight savings starts this Sunday! This mild winter we've had has made it feel like spring for months, but soon it will be official.
This is also the time of year when we start looking for new vendors to fill out our summer booth spaces. Specifically we are looking for more food vendors such as farmers, hot food vendors and processors. What is a processor you might ask? That is someone who makes a food product and packages it. Pickles, jams and bottled sauces are all examples of "processed" foods. If you know a farmer, even a backyard farmer or a hot food vendor or processor that might wish to sell at our market, please have them contact me and we'll see if we can get them on board. You can never have too much good food, right?
This time of year many of us are looking for interesting ways to use our winter veggies. In the past I have touted my love of Edible Seattle magazine and one of the things I love about them are all the great recipes they put out that use local and seasonal foods. This month's issue has a recipe for Sesame Peanut Kale Slaw that sounds awesome. I'm going to pick up some kale this week and make it. The ingredient list is a bit long to write out here so you can find the link to the PDF here. If you try this recipe, let me know if you liked it. I'm a bit thin on news this week so I will sign off here and say hope to see you Saturday!
