GREETINGS FROM TGS
Chichi teaching in the 4th grade
We welcomed mural artist Chichi Williams '99 to school last week to teach an art class and present at All School Meeting. She has kept in contact with the
Chichi with former teachers Chris Osgood and Dottie Richardson
school through her former classmates and friends as well as through the school's Facebook page, but it was her first time back on campus since graduation. Chichi's TGS art teacher Dottie Richardson and former HOS Chris Osgood attended the event. Chichi said, "As I took the stage to present at an all school meeting, I was overcome with such gratitude, love, and respect for the place that was my home away from home for 9 years. The Grammar School was more than just a school. It was the place that let me blossom, discover, and appreciate the world that I live in." See more photos and comments from Chichi on the TGS Facebook page.

We are all looking forward to the middle school musical at the end of next week!

PARKING REMINDER FROM THE PRESCHOOL
Now that spring is here and we're outside more often, the cars parked in the road behind the school are making us a bit nervous. We would appreciate it if you could park in the designated parking areas below the wooden gate. We would be significantly more at ease if there were no cars up here when we come and go across that road. Thanks!

TGS ARTISTS IN LOCAL EXHIBITIONS
Our young artists are well represented in the community, and we hope you will check out their work!

Katy's Great Food in Putney - A selection of still life paintings by our 5th graders, inspired by the muted color palette of Giorgio Morandi, will grace the walls of our local cafe for the month of April.

Latchis Gallery in Brattleboro - Art electives exhibition, opening at April Gallery Walk April 1.

Art electives at TGS are a wonderful opportunity for 7th and 8th graders to embark on a 6-week intensive study of a single medium. This year, students studied black and white 35mm photography at InSight Photography, video production with Michel Moyse of the Center for Digital Design, wheel throwing with Shari Zabrieski at Clayworks, and graffiti with Hannah. This is always an exciting time for our middle schoolers to pursue focused projects that synthesize the concepts of art making they've studied at TGS with an intensive study of their chosen medium. Come see what they've made!

TGS SUMMER CAMPS

The dates for TGS Summer Camp are July 11-15, 18-22 and 25-29. More details coming soon!

MEDIEVAL FAIRE CRAFTING FRIDAY, APRIL 1
NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY
Come join us anytime between 9am and noon at Jocelyn Bullard's (mom to Zoe in 5th grade) convenient new studio space at 10 Kimball Hill Road, practically next to the Putney General Store.
On hand will be supplies for needle felting, painting of shields, and felt for sewing, or just bring whatever you may be working on for fun and company. We would like to extend a special welcome to new parents, grandparents, extended family, and caregivers; this is a wonderful way to engage in the TGS community! We look forward to suggestions and ideas for the Faire's Marketplace, which features handmade items. Please RSVP to Melanie Kent so we can get a sense of numbers.

TRAIL RUNNING AND MOUNTAIN BIKING
Zach and Amy Caldwell will lead running and mountain biking activities again this spring, starting at the end of April. Mountain biking will be held on Tuesdays, beginning April 26, and running will be held on Wednesdays, beginning April 27. Practices run from 3:15-4:30pm.

Runners need to be able to run at least one mile without stopping and be prepared to get wet and muddy, and bikers should feel confident riding through the woods on trails. Runners and bikers should have appropriate shoes, clothing, and water bottle and snack. Helmets are required for all bikers. Parents are welcome. Please contact Mary for more details.
